Bob appears again as another major character dies
Tweekums6 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Drawn into a deadly game of chess with his former partner, Windom Earle, Cooper enlists the help of local chess master Pete Martell; he must play an unusual game... not only must he play to win, he must also play in a way that minimises the number of pieces lost as each lost piece will be a lost life! If that wasn't enough for Cooper to worry about Albert has found evidence linking Josie Packard with more than one killing; it won't be easy arresting his friend, the sheriff's, lover. Josie meanwhile learns that her husband is not dead as everybody had believed; something Thomas Eckhardt won't be happy to learn. Windom Earle isn't resting either; he appears to be lining up his next victim and the chief candidates are Shelly Johnson, Audrey Horne and Donna Hayward! Without giving too much away the episode ends with Cooper and the Sheriff with their guns trained on a suspect... who dies without a shot being fired after which Cooper sees Bob and the Dancing Midget... things are getting strange again.

This was another fine episode; it is nice to see things getting strange again with both Bob and the midget appearing again; this was a great final scene and it will almost certainly have consequences for the sheriff's character. Windom Earle's strange game of chess is getting more interesting not that it looks like the next victim could be a major character from the series not just another unknown; Kenneth Welsh does a fine job as the creepy Earle.

Warning: Spoilers
Finally, we actually got some really good stuff this episode. It looks like we might actually have seen the last of James, and if not, at least it won't be of him driving around or whatever. How Donna still chooses to be with a wooden plank like him after he's cheated TWICE I don't know. It also looks like we may have seen pretty much the last of Nadine too, who's moving on from Ed. I don't mind Ed and Norma at all, I think they're a very nice couple. As for Ben and his business endeavours, I think that's basically the last subplot that I'm not really interested in. We of course got the end of Josie this episode, and it does beg the question, was that really Josie? It was an excellent ending and at long last a return to what I've been wanting to see for a while: BOB. Josie died very suddenly, the same way Leland did. I now have quite a few questions. Can he inhabit multiple bodies at once? When did he inhabit Josie? Does he jump between bodies when he feels like it? I hope we get the answers, but I'm just glad that I've been hooked once again. The stuff with Windom Earle also has the potential to be very good, I really hope they take that plot down a supernatural route

Great episode
Red_Identity27 August 2010
After the show suffered a bit of a weak spot in episodes 10-15 of the 2nd season, it is definitely getting back on track. The mysteries in the show are again intriguing and suspenseful, the writing much more central and focused. This episode also shows the end of a great character, one who has made it through the show and whose personality traits and focus went from victim to murderer. Twin Peaks keeps proving that it knows how to create great drama, and even when it has it's weak spots (that hopefully already passed) it is still better than most Television shows out there. Keep them coming Twin Peaks! Keep showing me how great television is and how wonderful it can engage audiences!

It's Surreal Treat!
Hitchcoc19 August 2017
As we trod toward the conclusion of this second season, we have several issues to deal with. Catherine is at her worst as she pushes Josie toward her destruction. Josie has to deal with the horrors of being surrounded on all sides by danger she can only abide. Big Ed is approached by cheerleader in her head Nadine to break up with him. Wyndom Earle continues his efforts to avenge himself on Cooper, at least to get him to play that dangerous game. He is making arrows with the help of the seemingly catatonic Leo. The sheriff is in love and it is not going to happen. Audrey continues her entrepreneurship. Ben Horne has a whole new idea to exact revenge. But when we get to the conclusion as Bob appears one more time and the midget dances on the bed, we are left with that crazy, ambiguous hole that we can't fill with sanity. What a great series as image after image is handed us.

The knob
AvionPrince1625 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
An interesting episode where we follow Cooper who will get to know more about Earle. We know that is Josie who shot Cooper. Josie get caught with Eckhardt an will kill him. Pretty weird that dream passage where the face of Josie become the Knob.

Still interesting to watch but have a more slow paced and less tension in the episodes. It still enjoyable to see but it clearly lack of stakes and some event with more drama or more interesting things to our characters. Except Bob when he appears, the rest get pretty boring quickly and some useless talks sometimes. Still pretty interesting for the next episode and to see who is really Bob.

Truly some of the worst writing, acting, editing I've ever seen in an episode of television.
