Cameron (Heath Freeman) was to have been a recurring character in the series, but was dropped due to negative reactions from test audiences.
The EMT that Tru meets on her first night at the morgue may have been purposefully named "Marco" in homage to the children's game "Marco Polo". When Tru hears a noise and goes looking through the deserted morgue, she calls for "Marco", the traditional signal for someone hidden to yell back "Polo!"
According to the director audio commentary on a deleted scene in the pilot, Cameron was dropped only because it made more sense to give Davis, Tru's morgue, colleague more to do. The director said that the actor playing Cameron was terrific, but he felt that the show would be better served without the character of Cameron.
