- Tru Davies - Age 12: [At their mother's funeral] I just wish...
- Meredith Davies - Age 15: You just wish what?
- Tru Davies - Age 12: That I could go back to that day and help her.
- Mark Evans: [to Tru] Congratulations. Yesterday, you were an ethics violation. And today *you* are faculty girlfriend!
- Dr. Green: There was this other job I heard about. Now don't get excited. It might not be the exact right fit. You were a track star, right? Why don't you run down and see this guy as soon as you can. Tell him I sent you.
- Tru Davies: It's a good job?
- Dr. Green: Trust me. People would *die* for it.
- Davis: Are you sure you're interested in working here? Because, I'll be honest. Most girls as pretty as you, they come here - well, they're - they're dead.
- [Davis chuckles]
- Tru Davies: I'll be applying to medical school in the fall. And... my advisor said it would be a good idea.
- Davis: It's call the crypt. It's where every unnatural death in the city comes to rest. Waiting for an autopsy.
- Tru Davies: You said "unnatural" death.
- Davis: Most of them. Because if there's even a *hint* that a death might be unnatural: murder, suicide. They come here.
- Tru Davies: [as Harrison's being taken into surgery] I'm coming with you.
- Harrison Davies: No Tru.
- Tru Davies: Harrison, look at you.
- Harrison Davies: You had your chance, Tru. You can't help me now.
- Tru Davies: You said - I mean someone said - that the bodies brought here, they're unnatural deaths.
- Davis: Some of them, yes.
- Tru Davies: So those people, they shouldn't actually be dead, not yet anyway.
- Davis: Is it hard to see people dead before their time? Yes. But Tru, if you're going to work here, you've got to accept the fact that there's nothing you can do about it... That was a job offer in case you missed it.
- Tru Davies: [Speaking to Meredith on her cellphone] Are you sure you're okay?
- Meredith Davies: My God, that actually sounds like genuine concern. Wait a second! Who is this and what have you done with my sister?
- Tru Davies: And I heard another voice.
- Harrison Davies: Wait. I don't understand. You mean, like - you mean like mom?
- Tru Davies: No. Not her. Someone else.
- Harrison Davies: Dead.
- [Tru nods]
- Harrison Davies: Oh boy.
- Tru Davies: And that's not even the half of it. Believe it or not, that's the half that makes sense. I-I just don't get it. Me, of all people, why do they come to me?
- Harrison Davies: Maybe because they know that you'll listen.
- Tru Davies: [Standing over her mother's grave] It's been the strangest day. And understatement, I know. Did you have anything to do with it? I don't know. I only know that I wish this day had come 10 years earlier. Then maybe I could've saved you too. Instead, I'll wait, for others. Some who have needed me more than most. So maybe, I couldn't save you. Maybe, just maybe, this is your way of saving me.
