The morals of money
Seras1112317 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Again, the boys are out for season 3. Ricky with his cash from the dope deal, spends it all on impulse purchases. He becomes a rich jerk and parts with his money instantly. Instead of buying a trailer and new car, he's stuck with the junkmobile by the end. One of the more drama-fueled TPB episodes that works well. It nails the vicious cycle of Ricky's decisions and his tragic family situation. It felt a little hurried and predictable, but still is pretty good as a season opener.

Highlights: Ricky buying Trinity the books Bubble's go-kart

Better off Broke

Warning: Spoilers
Bubbles picks the boys up from jail and their first stop is the bank. Julian proposes starting small businesses and investments in the trailer park and Ricky just wants to spend it. They get kicked out of the bank.

Julian buys Bubbles a new shed and Ricky gets him a go-cart. Julian buys ice cream bikes for Cory and Trevor to use. Ricky gives money to Lahey as a down payment for a trailer. Lahey tells him if he doesn't have the money, he will have to kiss his bottom.

That night, Ricky plans to get drunk and set fire to his car. Lucy and Sarah are with a lawyer who gives Ricky child support papers. Ray sits in his car and convinces him not to burn it down. Cory and Trevor light off fireworks and Ricky gets very drunk.

The next morning, Ricky is passed out in the street and Bubbles picks him up in his go-cart and drives him back to his shed to clean him up. He orders Trinity a set of encyclopedias and demands they get to the park in a hurry. Ricky meets up with Lahey and Randy, a lady pulls up with the encyclopedias and they cost the same amount as the trailer. Ricky makes the decision to buy the encyclopedias for Trinity. Lahey pulls his pants down and Ricky kisses him on the bum.

Ricky is broke again and Ray gives him the key to his car. Lucy and Trinity come see him that night and she tells him the lawsuit is gone.

This is the first time the boys got out of jail and had money waiting for them. Ricky doesn't understand investments and doesn't like the idea of Julian controlling his money. He spends money recklessly as if he has an endless supply. When it came down to buying a trailer or the encyclopedias, he did what was best for Trinity.
