In the previous episode we get to see Ricky but we really don't get to know his character all that well. This episode introduces us to Ricky's strengths and why Julian continues to associate with him despite the fact Julian could easily take care for himself as a mature adult.
Julian allows Ricky to stay in his derelict 1975 Chrysler New Yorker that's been sitting on his lawn since he went to jail. Ricky, who isn't all that bright, irritates Julian to the point where Julian tells him he's got to leave. After a series of conflicts, including Lahey harrassing him over unpaid lot fees and the derelict car, Julian calls upon Ricky for help to get the car off the lawn, and to give Ricky a chance to get his life restarted.
This one also explores the relationship between Lahey & the boys. While Lahey absolutely hates Ricky and Ricky hates Lahey, Lahey has a bit of respect for Julian and the two can come to a solution within reason.
