The ghost story that Eric tells the gang is about Lydia's Bridge in Jamestown, NC. The story goes that Lydia was killed at the bridge by a drunk driver on her prom night some time in the 1950s. She and her date had apparently gotten in a fight and she was left out by the bridge. Men driving alone under the bridge have reported seeing her there and picking her up. She asks for a ride home and they take her there. When they drop her off, she leaves her scarf in the car. The man gets out to return her scarf and when her mother answers the door, the man is informed that her daughter died in a car accident many years ago. This has reportedly happened to many men over the years and has been retold many times, changing the location and the vehicle picking her up.
In this episode, they watch the movie, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Though that film is inspired by true events, it did not occur in Texas. It actually took place in Wisconsin, the setting for "That '70s Show".
The high school in which the gang read their permanent records is the same set used in "Welcome Back, Kotter (1975)".
In a flashback, Red uses his catchphrase, "dumbass", for the first time.
When Hyde wakes up from his dream, there is a Jack O'Lantern behind him showing what appears to be the top of a marijuana leaf.
