Warning: Spoilers
This is a decent episode with some twists that even Starsky and Hutch aren't in on. First, they are assigned to guard a mobster who is going to testify against other mobsters. But the guy gets shot anyway. Now anxious about possible attacks on his daughter, he won't testify until she is safe. So Starsky and Hutch are assigned to go get her and bring her back. Once they have her, they get attacked again and have to improvise to get her back safely.

This story is a somewhat common cop drama set-up. Even the twist is common and not completely unexpected. The acting is pretty solid, but there is nothing too special in the story or too much outstanding in the dialog. Starsky and Hutch almost treat the female cop they end up working with like an equal - almost, but not quite (this is the 70s, after all). (Hutch tells her she "looks pretty good" when she's laying, shot, on the floor - geez, Hutch). She has a good line when she says she didn't know that they would be "just short of perfect." The final shootout scene is the best action scene.
