Was 63 minutes long as opposed to the standard 45 minutes. They edited it to 45 minutes for syndication and put it on the DVD as well, until fans complained. MGM then offered a rebate, whereby people could send back the DVD with the shortened episode to receive a DVD with the longer episode.
While Oma is talking to Daniel, you can see a photo of the Ark of Truth on the back page of a newspaper being read by one of the other ascended beings.
In the diner, Oma reads off orders in diner lingo. Noah's son in a blanket means Ham (one of Noah's three sons) in bread, a ham sandwich; two hen fruit wrecked on a shingle, two eggs scrambled on toast; with a mystery in an alley, hash on the side; a warm eye with a moldy lid, a toasted bagel with cream cheese; two checkerboards hold the pig, two waffles without bacon.
The full text of the article "Anubis plans to retake Dakara" in "The Ascended Times" reads: "Exclusive inside information on his quest to destroy all life in the Milky Way Galaxy. That's right, folks. He's back again and he's badder than ever. Sources today indicate that the monstrous evil that is Anubis, is about to commit his most horrific act yet. His ultimate plan is to destroy all life (no exceptions) in the Galaxy and start over, infesting it with a multitude of Kull warriors and other subservient drone-like beings whose only purpose is to serve and amuse him. When questioned, Anubis claimed: "I'm not such a bad guy, I just know what I like and I'm willing to kill everyone and everything to get it." His plans will come to be a huge surprise to the rebel Jaffa and Tau'ri alike. "They keep thinking they've bested me but it can't be done. Being partially ascended has its benefits." This corporal creep had some words to say regarding his constant foes from the SGC. "That O'Neill is such a pain in the --- I'm particularly looking forward to pulling his arms off, over and over and over." What of his plans for the rest of the SG-1 team? "I thought I might have the shol'va Teal'c skinned and made into a wall-hanging for my Peltac. Carter? Oh I've got something special in mind for her [,] give me time to muster my forces and set my plans for retaking Dakara in motion. I love the irony of dealing with such situations..."
When Daniel introduces himself to the older woman sitting at the counter in the diner to borrow her syrup, he holds up his copy of The Ascended Times with his face on the cover. He holds the paper up to his face and mimics the photo's amusing expression.
