- On a shakedown cruise of the Prometheus, the ship's hyperdrive regulator becomes irreparably damaged. A nearby planet was listed on the cartouche of addresses found on Abydos and thus may have a stargate. After a short jump towards the planet, the Naquadria reactor overloads and must be jettisoned. After the reactor explodes above the planet causing damage, the fate of SG-1 and the crew of the Prometheus is in the hands of a once Goa'uld-controlled world that they're off to a rough start with.—Indeed, Tim and TCT
- The Prometheus is out on its first shakedown cruise under the command of Colonel William Ronson. SG-1 is onboard to offer any help or advice that might be required. All goes well until the hyperdrive shuts down and the Prometheus finds itself with only its sublight engines operational. They decide to go to a nearby planet with a stargate address but with which they had never been able to make contact. If they could find the gate, they could then get the parts they need to repair the ship. Their arrival is tumultuous - they have to abandon their reactor which explodes - and they don't receive much of a welcome. Their leader, Chairman Ashwan, is fascinated by this first visit by aliens but his security chief, Commander Kalfas, sees them as a risk. An inevitable confrontation ensues.—garykmcd
- Jack has trouble not 'overruling' USAF Colonel William Ronson while SG-1 accompanies his new crew on the Prometheus's maiden flight. Nobody understands why, but the hyperdrive breaks down, so they must land for repairs on a nearby planet with a stargate address, but never contacted yet, the Naquadah reactor even explodes. The welcome is tense, as political leader 'Chairman' Ashwan wants to exchange knowledge too, but his popular military chief, Commander Kalfas, is suspicious, keeping them at gun-point, and gaining the upper hand due to the apparent alien threat, fearing they're as bad as the nearly-forgotten Goa'uld oppressors from the past. Kalfas opposes SGC trying to locate the lost stargate to harvest spare parts to repair the ship, rendering a complex showdown inevitable.—KGF Vissers
