- Captain Kathryn Janeway: [sees Latika watching them] Oh, God. Come on!
- [grabs Tom and heads for a different direction]
- Latika: [steps in their path] I know you're lying.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Young man, we're here on a business trip and we have a lot of work to do.
- Latika: The officer told me you came here on the continental transport.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: That's right. We're from Kalto Province.
- Latika: Yeah? Well, I just talked to the transport attendant. He told me four people came today from Kalto. Two of them were a lot older than you, and they had a child with them.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Well, the attendant was wrong. That was us.
- Latika: So... where's the child?
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: We ate him. Because we ARE demons and we EAT children, and I haven't had my supper yet!
- [lunges at Latika]
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: We're the only humans out here, Harry. People are gonna start pairing off, and if we don't get to the Delaney sisters in Stellar Cartography soon, somebody else will.
- Ensign Harry Kim: I got a girl back home.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: So what? I got five.
- The Doctor: [of Kes] She's the healthiest member of her species I've ever seen - the only member of her species I've ever seen.
- Lieutenant Tuvok: It is highly unlikely that Captain Janeway would come here to...
- Kes: No. The Captain did come. She was here. This is where she died.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Hey, kid. You were right about one thing. I *was* lying. I don't eat children.
- [the Doctor is scanning Kes, then checking his tricorder]
- The Doctor: Hm... m-hm...
- Neelix: [impatient] What?
- The Doctor: Hm?
- Neelix: Is something wrong?
- The Doctor: Yes, terribly wrong.
- The Doctor: [to Kes] Your brain is... not on file.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: What's your name?
- Latika: Latika.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Latika... I'm sorry.
- Latika: For what?
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: I just am.
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: [to Makull] You wanted the truth. All right, here's the truth: we're from the future - exactly one day in the future.
- Latika: [baffled] You mean I was right?
- The Doctor: [examining Kes] Either your government failed to transmit the standard 15-501 Crew Personnel Report or somebody at Starfleet Medical really fouled up.
- Kes: I'm not a member of the Starfleet crew.
- Neelix: We came aboard at mid-expedition.
- The Doctor: And no one asked you for your medical histories when you arrived?
- [Kes and Neelix shake their heads]
- The Doctor: [realizing] Of course not. That would be the ship's... doctor's job. *My* job. If anyone had bothered to tell me about new passengers. But I seem to be the last to know just about everything around here.
- [an away team investigates a planet which has been entirely destroyed by a polaric ion detonation]
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: So... we're looking at the end of a war.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: I wonder who won.
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: This device uses the same polaric energy that destroyed the planet.
- Ensign Harry Kim: At intense levels, it can open a subspace fracture.
- Cmdr. Chakotay: Wide enough for the Captain and Paris to get through?
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: If we can locate them, this is capable of bringing them back.
- Lieutenant Tuvok: The logical place to begin would be at the same location they disappeared.
- [the device burns out]
- Ensign Harry Kim: The only problem is, at the necessary intensity, the polaric generator will burn itself out after thirty seconds at best.
- Cmdr. Chakotay: Can't we reinitialize the generator and try again?
- Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres: Not at the same location. Once we make an attempt at any given location, the damage to subspace will make a second attempt impossible.
- Pe'Nar Makull: Interstellar ships? Fractures in time? Do you honestly expect us to believer all this?
- The Doctor: So... tell me, just how many other new arrivals are there?
- Neelix: Just us.
- Kes: And the crew from another ship that was destroyed.
- The Doctor: Another... crew. That's nice.
- [last lines]
- Captain Kathryn Janeway: Enter the planet's coordinates into the log and maintain present heading, Commander. Warp 6.
- Cmdr. Chakotay: Aye, Captain.
- [first lines]
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: Holding course 351, mark 10, warp 7. We'll be passing a red dwarf system in 40 minutes.
- [Paris tries to pressure Kim into a double-date with the Delaney sisters]
- Ensign Harry Kim: I told you, I need to run a transtator diagnostic.
- Lieutenant Tom Paris: [scoffs] You need to run a SELF-diagnostic.
