Kira's seductive walk alone earns an 8/10

Warning: Spoilers
I am a big fan of Kira and I always enjoy watching her dial up her performance to 11 in these mirror universe episodes.

Ben Sisko is forced to engage physically with Jadzia to maintain the secret of his true identity---- all in the line of duty, right Ben?

It was cool to see Tuvok --- I think he could have had more of a role to play in this one? But nonetheless good to see him.

It was nice to see Sisko being able to save Jennifer in this universe. Maybe it helps the feelings of survivor guilt he carries around with him?

I was genuinely surprised by the double cross twist with Rom being a double agent. Nice job DS9 writers. We are now running dangerously low on Ferengi in the mirror universe though.

There are a lot of parallels with season of Discovery and the relationship between Sisko and Mirror Jennifer. I wonder what degree of influence this particular plot arc had on the development of that plot arc in Discovery?

Love the mirror universe.

Mirror, Mirror was one of my favourite episodes of The Original Series and I really like how they kept the story arc going. Oh and, Wow!, Jadzia looks hot in this episode.

Mirror, Mirror, Mirror, etc.

This is another venture into the parallel universe. Sisko is taken there by the O'Brien counterpart from the other dimension. He meets up with the copy of his wife (who died in the very first episode). They hit it off, but she is a scientist that is working on a very destructive device and it is Sisko's job to put a stop to her research. All in all, it works reasonably well.

Commander Sisko visits the mirror universe.

Warning: Spoilers
So far I've enjoyed all of the mirror universe episodes of Deep Space Nine and this one is no exception; they tend to be slightly tongue in cheek, usually restrained female characters become sexually provocative and because it is the mirror universe their counterparts of the regular characters can get killed. This story sees "Smiley" O'Brien come to Deep Space Nine and kidnap Commander Sisko so that he can take the place of Captain Sisko, who was killed, on a mission to extract a human scientist who is working for Intendant Kira. The complication is that the scientist is his wife who doesn't like him in this universe.

This episode was a lot of fun, the cast were obviously having fun playing their less restrained mirror-selves. The mission was exciting and had a nice conclusion which left the key mirror characters alive so we can look forward to seeing them again. The only thing I was left wondering at the end of the episode was did Commander Sisko tell Lt. Dax and Major Kira just how much he enjoyed the company of their mirror counterparts when he got home? Somehow I doubt it.

Solid mirror Trek

Sisko goes on a trip to the Mirror Universe.

This is an enjoyable excursion with fun character moments.

The plot is better than 'Crossover' as Sisko isn't trapped or just having the experience of being in the mirrorverse, he actually has a mission which makes the episode feel more purposeful. How it ends sets up future episodes very well.

Sisko is the star of the show and Avery Brooks has the perfect opportunity to be heroic and a bit badass thanks to the situation the character is in.

Other characters like Kira, Garak, Jennifer, Chief O'Brien, Dax, Bashir and even Tuvok contribute well.

The dark visuals and atmosphere are great as always in these types of episodes.

For me it's a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.

Decent but perhaps they should stop these sorts of episodes.

"Through the Looking Glass" is the second follow-up episode that "Star Trek: Deep Space 9" has done which was inspired by "Mirror, Mirror" from the original "Star Trek" series. I adored "Mirror, Mirror" and didn't mind one follow-up--but by the time this third episode debuted, it all started to feel a bit overdone. Unfortunately, more of these "Mirror, Mirror" inspired shows would follow. Imitation is not necessarily a good thing.

When the show begins, Mile O'Brien kidnaps the Commander. Soon, Sisko realized this isn't the REAL O'Brien but one from the parallel world who plans on using him in the new Terran rebellion. It seems that Sisko's counterpart in the parallel universe has died--and Sisko is needed to finish his double's job. Why? I have no idea.

Apart from the lack of originality, the show also suffers from an improbably resolution that comes too easily. Not great but at least it's fun watching the hornier and deadlier Major Kira.

Dull and kind of cheesy

Warning: Spoilers
Usually I like Kira; but sometimes Nana Visitor really overacts, and this is one of those occasions. Generally I like Sisko; but sometimes he acts like he's ready to fall asleep. In this episode he alternates between sleeping and overacting. I am going to assume they are just trying to differentiate between their good and evil personas and cut them some slack. The "romance" between evil Sisko and evil Jax was just kind of creepy and made me uncomfortable. The "romance" between evil Kira and evil Sisko was also creepy and disturbing. Evil Bashira looked like a knock-off pirate. Overall it was just a dull and uninteresting story.

Gimmicky
cloudbuster6317 June 2020
I'm binging the series and this is the third very gimmicky episode in a row, all involving time travel or alternate realities. It's as if the writers are bored with the actual universe the characters are living in. Combined with Nana Visitor's horrid overacting, I'm having a hard time finishing the episode.

I just think it would be incredibly funny if this was the first ever DS9 episode a viewer watched! Which ever episode was seen next would be soooooo confusing 😆
