George W Bush's presidential visits to the UK always seemed to have attracted controversy. It was not entirely due to his middle eastern policies, maybe that he won the presidency without winning the popular vote.

Bush is making an unexpected visit to Britain. Christine Dale the CIA operative is tasked to keep her president safe during his visit and seems to be increasing paranoid. A control freak. She is willing to run a horse and coach through the existing protocols.

A stressful situation for the Spooks team, confounded further with them being psychologically evaluated and Tom is being stalked with a former girlfriend he broke up with.

Dale deals rather directly with the former girlfriend problem. Harry Pearce suspects that there was an hidden agenda with the president's visit to the UK.

A decent episode, with some humour especially as Tom is pestered for supposedly being a sex escort courtesy of her neurotic ex girlfriend. However beneath Dale's bluster there was not much substance to the episode apart from maybe a rogue glider pilot may get shot down.

Warning: Spoilers
Several "ugh" moments. Here are my top three INCLUDING SPOILERS: Tom's doctor ex is an increasingly over-the-top loony - how would an MI-5 operative even become entangled with someone like that?? Her character would be great on AbFab, but here?? All the Americans look like jerks in this episode, and it's sadly well explained. Finally, as an American, I didn't enjoy the trip down memory lane to the presidency of GWB. "Cowpuncher" was the perfect CIA code name for him.

Yes - Republican Presidents visited the UK prior to Brexit and yes the masses were ginned up to protest and create anarchy in the UK. Then 15 years later the Brits woke up and realized they lost their country and were being pushed around by the EU. The enemy then as in now is not the US.

As for the ex girlfriend - she should have been buried under Thames House for what she did. The turn in the relationship and her odd behavior seems off and forced. Hopefully Tom will learn how to communicate what he does and what that means for dating in Series 3.
