Shades of the Salman Rushdie affair but that is a smokescreen. A prominent novelist under threat from a fatwa is attacked as he meets his friend Harakat, a bookseller.

Danny manages to keep the author safe but MI5 realises that this could had been an inside job. Someone was very familiar with the MI5's security arrangements.

Adam has an inkling that Harakat might had been the real target especially as he was injured in the attack. They need to find out more about him and Danny is assigned to keep a watch over him.

Harakat sold out his fellow terrorists in Pakistan some years ago and is under the protection of British security which is now under pressure.

Security chief Oliver Mace wants to do a deal with a terrorist leader in Pakistan and Harakat's death is the price of the deal.

Danny and Harakat get close with their mutual love of cricket and there is some location shooting at Lord's cricket ground.

A cynical look at the world of spies in a post 9/11 world. Something Harry Pearce notices as Mace sells out an ally to gain new more untrustworthy allies.
