There is an element of the plot that reminded me of Daniel Craig's debut in Casino Royale. That first cold blooded kill.

The target is a rogue scientist Eric Newland intent on working with the North Koreans in developing biological weapons. Zoe and Danny are tailing Newland on a ferry, their initial task was just to persuade Newland to stop working for the North Koreans. When the order changes to an assassination attempt, both of them are unhappy with the turn of events. Zoe is sidelined because of seasickness.

Danny has killed before in the line of defence but never like this. He is conflicted with the moral dilemma this entails. Adam Carter attempts to talk through the process as he needs to kill Newland with a lethal insulin overdose. Danny realises that life for him will never be the same again.

A psychological approach in this episode and it allows both Oyelowo and Penry-Jones to shine.

As for Zoe, she knows that her boyfriend Will might have put her at risk via his unreliable brother. She breaks up with him.

Zoe is Useless Drag
Johnny_West7 August 2022
Every episode Zoe is complaining about something not being ethical or appropriate to her high moral values. Every episode Zoe is dragging people down, holding back the team, or flaking out on somebody.

So finally one time she has to earn her money by taking out a rogue scientist and she totally melts down and fakes morning sickness. I thought the whole point was going to be that she would announce that she was pregnant, but that never happened. Zoe had an anxiety or panic attack, laid down in her cabin bed, and did nothing but sleep.

Danny had to do the heavy lifting, and that gave him an opportunity to whine and complain too. I certainly hope the real MI-5 is not made up of useless cry-babies.

Is their an MI-5 consultant

Warning: Spoilers
I get the psychological aspect of the plot but this seems to be a stretch to believe. An assassination to protect the country and the world seems like something an MI - 5 agent can handle.

The episode that ended the interest for me

This is a perfect example of writers writing the story how they wish professionals could be. Not unlike movies with wealthy individuals who earned their money giving it away. Or free healthcare. In this episode we are supposed to recognize that spies are human too. Great, yes, good point. But the writers regressed Zoe and Danny to middle school here so that the writers can somehow make a point to remind us that all life is valuable or something like that? God help us if spies are that reluctant. God help us if the people who hire and manage them are that inept to keep them for a week after botching the psychological evaluation(s) they must have gone through to get the job. Zoe's seasick character and the actress playing her were intolerable in this episode. Danny's "human side" ridiculous. A few episodes back Tom had a meltdown and that was bad enough, and with this happening shortly thereafter the show went from decent to unwatchable for me.
