When Victor shows Commander Koenig the memory bank of Voyager 1, it is in fact the AE35 unit from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) repainted red.
After the discussion in the Commander's office between Koenig, Bergman, and Helena (with Helena stating "Well, I guess we should try to find out all the information we can about fast neutrons"), there's a deleted scene where Helena does just that, which the computer - to her surprise - brings up Ernst Linden's file.
There was an actual Voyager probe. In fact, there were 2 probes with the name. Both were designed for the purpose of exploring Jupiter and Saturn, and both eventually would leave the solar system. However, they were launched in 1977, rather than 1985, as claimed in the show.
Two scenes consistently edited out of syndicated reruns back in the '70s were: Victor Bergman and Ernst Linden's conversation involving the Voyager malfunctioning when approaching inhabited planets, and Helena and Linden's discussion in Medical with Linden dealing with his guilt. The rest of the episode remained intact (except on cut-throat stations that butchered the episodes down to 45 minutes).
The community referenced by Paul, where his father and both parents of Jim Haines had perished due to the malfunction of Voyager 2, had been scripted as another base on the moon, but didn't make it onto the final shooting script.
