Very funny!

Mecha Striesand is a very funny episode of South Park.Cartman finds a triangle during a field trip and throws it away, Kyle then picks it up and gets all the credit for finding it but Cartman now wants it back.He always complains about how he found the triangle until Kyle gives it to him.Meanwhile Barbra Striesand comes to South Park looking for the triangle. She wants it so she can turn into Mecha Striesand(a metal godzilla like version of herself) and take over the world. Now Chef and Leonard Maltin must stop her.Leonard Maltin also gets Sidney Poitier and Robert Smith of the cure(who guest-stars in this episode) to help try and stop her. This is a really funny episode with some hilarious scenes! A great classic South park episode.

Barbara, Barbara Streisand

Probably honestly genuinely my least favorite episode of season 1. It's not bad, it really isn't, it's just boring for me. Barbara Streisand in it sucks, she's annoying, they did that well. The rest of the episode is just okay for me. 7.2.

Mecha-Streisand (#1.12)

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Cartman finds a little triangle that seems to have some super powers and Barbara Streisand is after it. When finally getting her hands on it she becomes a mega iron Godzilla and goes on destroying the city until they get Robert Smith to come and help them save it. As you see the story is as crazy as always.

Yet while I still liked it and saw many great moments I was for the most part a bit bored. Maybe there was a reason for selecting the celebrities that they did that now in 2015 is not something we can remember anymore. This could have made the episode greater, but at this point I didn't get the point.

What made the episode still of great quality was little Cartman and his strategy to fight for everything by kicking them in the nuts first. And it was fun to see the Mega Ike at the end made the ending more exciting.

They mean it this time

Trey Parker and Matt Stone have stated that they don't hate sincerely hate of the celebrities they make fun of, except Barbara Streisand. This is because she boycotted Colorado where they grew up. I feel kind of bad they feel that way because "What's Up, Doc?" is one of my favorite comedies of all time! Eh, I guess I can like both of them. Anyway, the episode's plot is that Barbara Streisand needs a magic triangle to turn her into a giant robot. It seems as though Butters does in fact talk in this episode.

He seems to laugh with the other characters at the beginning of the episode. The creators said that Pip stopped appearing because Butters worked better as a character everyone made fun of. I really have no idea why Leonard Maltin is another celebrity featured in this episode. He liked "What's Up, Doc?". I still miss how he discontinued his movie guide. The action is actually good too. ****

South Park pays tribute to Godzilla like movies but not to Barbs
Nolamoviedude3 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The show starts off with the boys on an archaeology field trip and Cartman singing slave songs. " Massa' got me working. Work is never finished. Someday massa' set me free". Soon he finds a triangle but throws it away and Kyle picks it up. Cartman whines and Kyle after being sick of hearing Cartman cry, gives it back. The magic triangle gets him on the news and soon Barbara Streisand comes looking for it.

Leonard Maltin shows up to stop Babs from getting the triangle but fails. She ends up torturing the boys until the give her the triangle. She then becomes Mecha-Streisand, a Godzilla like monster from those cheesy 60's and 70's B movies. Soon Sydney Portier shows up and turns himself into a monster but he too fails. Enter Robert Smith from the Cure, he turns himself into some sort of giant butterfly and stops Babs.

I have no idea the connection of these celebrities but the randomness of South Park is park of the humor.

My favorite Cartman quote of the show " I kicked him in the nuts and he cried like Nancy Kerrigan"

Oh and Kenny dies on the tether ball court after being strangled by the rope.

Weak

7.4/10 I recently started watching all of South Park in order, so I know I'm bound to find some mediocre episodes. This one was quite funny, but really just uncreative and only made to rip on Barbara Streisand. Not terrible, but definitely the weakest of Season 1.

It isn't the lack of subtlety that hurts this episode as much as it is the lack of creativity
SLionsCricketreviews5 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is the first episode of "South Park" that I can count myself as being not a fan of. Being my first run through of the series, I am bound to find some rotten pieces of fruit in the basket but this episode came across to me as too petty.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker have voiced their distaste for Barbara Streisand and the episode does not bother to hide this. The lack of subtlety isn't the issue for me, it's rather the lack of creativity in an episode with "appearances" by Leonard Maltin, Sidney Poitier and Streisand herself.

While even the silliest of "South Park" episodes so far have managed to be inventive and funny, this episode left a sour after taste for me and I'm no Streisand fan myself (partly because I've never seen her in anything). None of the main characters shine, Kenny's death is a complete after thought (in a disappointing and joyless way) and the episode probably deserves its status as a controversial one.
