Some seriously funny but subtle humor in this episode
fishing664 January 2014
A bunch of South Park men are watching a Broncos vs 49ers football game. Jakov starts screaming, "Go Niners!", not having a clue that he is in Broncos territory....seconds later, a wide open Bronos receiver catches a pass and is racing for the end zone..."He's at the 40, the 30", and oblivious to the game drama, Jakov yells, "Hey guys, one time, there was this rabbit, a brown rabbit, and it did a dookie right in front of me!" They then ask Jakov to go and get more pretzels, not at the local store but one four miles away.

Other enjoyable moments were when the juvenile Jakovasaurs were in class and Garrison asks, "Does anybody know why Chubby Checker left the Beetles in 1972"...the Jakovasaurs raise their hands and say, "I don't know". After three repetitions of this, Garrison yells at them, "Dammit, you don't raise your hand if you don't know the answer". He is inundated with, "School school I like school!".

Not the best

I love South Park but other than the boys camping before meeting the Jakovasuar this episode is kind of boring. Its the same joke about the head lining character being annoying and if you dont like that kind of humor the story is dry.

Those Jakovasaurs characters are a lot more annoying than Towlie ever was
celiawatsonanime17 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Glad that they seem to go away. This is the only episode Most of the episode it just feels like they're annoying the crap out of the townspeople. Nothing much else seems to happen in this. They don't even look like dinosaurs they appear more alien like.

They shouldn't have been trying to save Jakovasaurs from extinction, at least in the way they were doing that, it just made dozens of them annoying all over the place instead of only 2.

At least the French near the end when the Jakovasaurs won the game show enjoyed them.

This episode was mildly enjoyable, silly in a bad way, and weird. Wouldn't recommend it.

Cartman's mom smoking crack!
gangstahippie25 October 2008
A lot of people seem to dislike this episode. While it is not my favorite, it does have some pretty funny scenes, such as when we see Cartman's mom smoking crack and having sex with the two men who are trying to locate the jackovasaurs(jack-off-asaurus).These "Jackovasaurs" are a breed of dinosaur where they find the last one. They then find another male one, and they basically repopulate their species. The townspeople like them at first but then they see how annoying they are.Cartman however really likes them and thinks they are funny. The townspeople try to get rid of these annoying dinosaurs. This episode was not the best but it did have some great parts.

I get the joke, now never do it again

The bottom of the barrel when it comes to South Park. I hate Jar Jar just as much as everyone else and I appreciate the idea behind this episode, but ironically annoying is still annoying and the episode is constantly reminding you how annoying it is, winking at you like that makes it any better. Skip this one and while your at it skip the phantom menace too.

An Overlooked Jab at Jar Jar
Howard-3003916 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
When I first heard about the Jakovasaurs, I thought it was a Dinosaur that wanks and causes a tsunami with it's white stuff but then I saw the Episode, an I laughed at the Sheer Idiocy and Annoyances of the Jakovasaurs. It has some satire on wildlife, and how We can't save every form of life, also It was a clever spoof on Jar Jar Binks, and Kevin McDonald. I like how Annoying they try to be, and really, It's only annoying to the Characters, and that's why it works, and makes Eric Cartman laugh, and gave him Authoritah.

While I understand why it might draw viewers and fans away from this episode, some of them are just mad that Matt and Trey did these things

1. Gave Eric Authoritah 2. Had Ned lose his voice box 3. Had the Jakovasaurs be supposedly annoying and loud

and there's nothing more scarier than Cartman with Authoritah. Even IGN gave this episode a bad review, saying the Jakovasaur gag went on for too long.

Hold up IGN (League of Dumb Critics), Why say the gag went for too long, If the main focus of the episode was the Jakovasaurs, oh that's right, because IGN is made up of Entitled buttnads that can't decide if anything is good or not, mind you this is the same company that gave Fornite a 9.6

Yes, prolonging in media is annoying, boring, and lose taste

Which is why "Seahorse Seashell Party", "Sore Eyes", "Barnmates", and "Sleeping with Hinako" get very boring and stale (Especially Seahorse Seashell Party and Barnmates)

However, if the episode is focused on a subject or thing or place or anything, than your gonna expect it throughout the episode

If you don't have something interesting or contrasting for the episode, then you have stuff like "Sleeping with Hinako"

So DUH IGN, it's an episode dedicated to the Jakovasaurs, what do you expect, Steven Universe, Pickle Rick, Derpy Hooves

Anyway, It's real funny how you can parodize something so annoying and unfunny, and I like how Cartman is the only one laughing with the Jakovasaurs, showing some unpopular opinions with Cartman, and some compasion out of Cartman

He actually loved something for once instead of being a jerk

However, this episode did the Contrasting Cartman thing better than South Park Season 20 will ever do

While not a cinematic masterpiece, it did make me laugh at an embarrassment that was overly promoted by George Lucas himself, and it was at a time when we needed South Park most

Hollywood Ending
RainDogJr16 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This is not an episode that you really should watch, of course if you're a big South Park fan you will end watching all of the episodes however to anyone who likes the show and is looking for some of the greatest moments you should not stop here if you ask me. However this episode does have interesting things and delivers some laughs, pretty much I recommend you the commentary of Trey and Matt from the DVD set of Season 3, certainly they succeeded in their attempt to create a character as annoying as Jar Jar Binks. The Jackovasaurus are truly annoying creatures and we will be with the people from South Park but not before we laugh of them. Is funny since they wanted to help the Jackovasaurus, they wanted to help that extremely rare species. One particular scene that I really liked is when Jun-Jun is about to give birth, I think is Kyle's mom who says that is beautiful but she said that before the event happened. Certainly the memorable stuff of this episode comes not from the annoying creatures but from Cartman (who is the only person who loves those creatures!) and Ned, the first gives a nice harmonica concert while camping and the second has some different voices in the course of the episode! Oh and the final scene, with the Jackovasaurus in France, reminds me the ending of Woody Allen's Hollywood Ending.

Makes me recoil in my skin... some funny bits though
KrazeElk3 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start off by saying this is one of the few South Park episodes that I truly dislike, which is a testament to the show's (usual) quality.

The episode follows a formerly extinct species, the Jakovasaurs, as they comes from the water of stark's pond. The main joke of the episode is that they are incredibly annoying and Cartman is the only one who wants to keep them around. The idea of this bit is funny, at least the part where Cartman wants to keep these terrible, annoying creatures, but in practice this becomes really grating.

The Jakovasaurs are meant to parody Jar Jar Binks, which certainly isn't a bad idea on the face of it. The problem arises when you're idea of parody is doing what the source material does but at a heighted level to mock it, which in this case is being annoying and clumsy. Exaggeration is a great tool, but when it comes to being annoying, it can be hard to both exaggerate the annoying character without annoying the audience. Unfortunately that's what happens here. You might be able to get away with a jokingly annoying character, but ultimately it has to be funny, which the Jakovasaurs are not.

In summary, just because you make a bad joke on purpose doesn't make it good. At the end of the day, it's still an annoying joke.
