Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut (#1.13)

A wonderful way to end a wonderful season The whole idea about Eric Cartman trying to find his dad was absolutely funny, I wasn't even noticing before I first saw this episode that he is doesn't have a dad.

What is funny is how he tries to take his dad's culture whenever he gets a new theory, I was just kind of disappointed he didn't get dressed up for Mr. Garrison.

The way the story changes it's direction is also very well done. And they end up with some perfect cliffhanger. I mean how can one handle all those weeks waiting to find out who Eric's dad is! I can imagine how many discussions the fans had.

What I also love about this episode is Eric having his little tea parties with his toys and boys filming him. This is just too cute for Eric.

This is with out a doubt one of the funniest episodes ever. In a desperate search for his father, Cartman ask his mom where he met his father, with her responding at a dance then she says made out with an chief saying that was his father, but it turns out it was not and it was chef that she made out with and then chef denies saying that he is Cartmans father and the Dr say he can do a experiment to find out who his father is for a price of $3,000. As the rest boys of the are about send in record of a film of Cartman have a tea party with his stuffed animals into a TV show videos to win a prize of $10,000. This is in instant classic episode! Which is a must see! 10/10

My favorite episode of season 1. Great episode, Cartman's mom loves some good sax, who doesn't love some good sax. Anywayhow, the episode is great, Mr. Garrison is still gay, Kyle is Jewish and living his life and Cartman might also be gay??? Very possible 8.2.

Interesting two-parter
gangstahippie1 October 2008
This is the first two part episode of South Park.Only this one's first part is the season finale and the second part is the second episode of the second season.Instead of making it the premiere, Trey and Matt made a Terrence and Philip special entitled "Not Without My Anus"(you can actually see the trailer for it during this episode when they are watching TV).Anyway this episode has the boys noticing Cartman skipping school. So they go and see him in his backyard playing tea-party with his stuffed animals. The boys videotape the behavior so Mr Mackey can study it but instead send it to America's stupidest home video's for a prize of $10,000. Cartman has been acting strange because he wants to know who his father is.His mother happens to be a "slut"(hence the title) and got drunk at a barn dance eight years before and does not remember who the father was.She does remember a man named Chief "Running Water".He tells Cartman that it was Chef who she last saw him with and Chef says it was Mr.Garrison afterwords.Cartman then goes to a bar and finds out that almost everybody in town(even the women) have slept with Cartman's mom.Stan and Kyle use the second place money they got(the first place went to Stan's Grandpa filming Kenny's demise) to get a DNA test from everybody in town. That is where the two parter ends. This was a fairly funny and good season finale. The april fools joke episode "Not Without My Anus" does not usually air in syndication but I think it should. It's a decent episode.

Surprisingly strong in the dramatic department but maybe a little disappointing in the comedic department

Warning: Spoilers
"Cartman's Mom Is a Dirty Slut" concludes what has been a surprisingly strong first season of South Park, given how first seasons of these shows can often be. A two parter with season two's "Cartman's Mom Is Still a Dirty Slut", this episode explores Cartman and his father complex and shows off some surprising heart for a famously and characteristically crude television series. While the drama is surprisingly organic, I find the episode somewhat lacking as far as the humour is concerned.

The episode pretty much opens with Cartman hosting a tea party by himself! The scene is the perfect embodiment of everything I was hoping for in this episode. There's excellent character work, surprising amount of drama and emotion and it never fails to be absolutely hilarious. I immediately realized this episode would be about Cartman and the exploration of a father complex and for the most part, these scenes are done very well.

Eric's mother recollecting her 'wild days' doesn't quite strike me as particularly funny or enjoyable and it's a pity because it bogs down the momentum of the episode to that point. Kenny, Kyle and Stan exploiting Cartman's crisis with a tape of his tea party is a simple but great side story that complements the episode's emotional arc.

Co-creator Tray Parker really does shine with the vocal performance of Eric Cartman in this episode. The opening tea party is perfectly voiced, each inflection is pure gold. It really is a credit to Parker's ability that he immediately brings out the audience's emotional investment to a character who has mostly been either a fat joke or a selfish crude character or both. The conflict is very real and it does lend itself to some nice humour though it never quite struck me as being as funny as previous episodes.

A very good episode but one that I find a little undercooked.
