- Chloe Sullivan: [as Lois and Clark are arguing over her, thinking she's sound asleep] You guys, I'm drugged, not deaf.
- Chloe Sullivan: Why was I the only one that could see her? I mean, why did she choose me?
- Clark Kent: Maybe because you care more about other people than anyone else I know.
- Chloe Sullivan: [in a joky tone] Or maybe there really is something wrong with me. Like my mother.
- Clark Kent: What is wrong with your mother exactly?
- Chloe Sullivan: I don't know. I mean, she left when I was twelve, so that was before... I don't know.
- Clark Kent: But you do know where she is.
- Chloe Sullivan: Yeah.
- Clark Kent: Why haven't you gone to see her?
- Chloe Sullivan: Well, because, um... because I'm afraid. I mean, what if I look into her eyes and I see myself?
- Clark Kent: What if you wait too long and you never get the chance to look into her eyes again? She's your mother. She always will be; it's not gonna change, no matter what.
