Friendship and Betrayal
claudio_carvalho22 May 2007
While visiting Lana in Metropolis, Clark opens a package addressed to Lana apparently sent by Lex Luthor and is wounded and infected by a splinter of silver kryptonite meteor. Clark has paranoid delusions, and sees Chloe, Jonathan, Martha, Lana and Lex plotting against him. He defends himself against his "enemies", jeopardizing the lives of his dearest friends and family.

In "Splinter", Clark feels the side effects of the silver kryptonite, becoming paranoid and dangerous. The mysterious Professor Milton Fine uses his powers to save Clark, but the ambiguous conclusion, associated to his class about friendship and the betrayal through the examples of Cesar / Brutus and Jesus / Judas, questions his real intentions with Clark. Meanwhile the real intentions why Lex discloses the spaceship to Lana are also not revealed. Am I also paranoid? My vote is eight.

Paranoia nearly consumes Clark

Warning: Spoilers
A new mythic element dangerous to Clark is introduced in this interesting seventh episode of the season.

Lana receives a package supposedly sent from Lex Luthor containing a silver meteor rock. Clark gets cut by this rock, and the silver substance gets under his skin. As the episode progresses, everybody he is friends with, or loves, gets under his skin as well. The effect of the silver substance causes Clark to become paranoid, and believe that everybody is out to get him. Everybody- not just Lex, but his own parents, Chloe, and Lana too.

It is awesome to see what effect silver kryptonite has on Clark. Meanwhile, Clark learns where his professor Milton Fine really is from.

CLARK KENT'S BENEDICTION
awbusa24 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode has a great reference to the movie NIGHTMARES 1983 segment THE BENEDICTION where LANCE HENRIKSEN faces off against a DEMONIC BLACK 4x4 truck - the only other highlight was THE STEREOPHONICS song SUPERMAN - the PARANOIA aspects were interesting but derivative of other tv shows & movies featuring a character's paranoia - my score 8 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 10 STARS.
