Old Rivalries and an Artificial Youth
Rcwilkinson12317 September 2007
The greatest appeal of this episode is the expansion of Clark's earthly family- and the revelation that not everybody is a fan of beloved Jonathan Kent.

Neither is everybody a fan of a girl who drains life from others to keep herself youthful.

These are the stories concerning the 27th episode of the 'Smallville' series. A young woman named Chrissy mysteriously causes her boyfriend to dramatically age to death in a matter of seconds. Clark and Lana catch on to the secret behind this traumatic event, and stop Chrissy from hurting others in her youth quest. In addition, Clark's grandpa comes to town- Martha's dad. However, he and Jonathan have never been huge fans of each other. Also, Lana discovers photos of a man who she has never seen before nor heard of with her deceased mother.

Additionally, the most interesting aspects of this episode are the expanded family ties seen individually in main characters Clark and Lana's lives.

Families Issues and Complex of Peter Pan

In Smallville High School, a swimmer mysteriously ages and dies, after meeting his girlfriend Chrissy Parker (Maggie Lawson). The new principal Reynolds (Richard Gant) arrives and conflicts with Clark Kent because he is friend of Lex Luthor. The Kent family is having financial problems and Martha contacts her father, who has been away from the family for twenty years, to borrow some money. Lana Lang finds an old picture of her mother with an apparent boyfriend and asks Lex to investigate.

"Redux" is an episode with many situations, some of them resolved, but others left open. There are new characters, such as Principal Reynolds and Clark's grandparent, and the stories are very good. My vote is nine.

Complete ripoff of a classic X-Files villain
missruben21 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The X-Files' Eugene Victor Tooms is redrawn as "Chrissy". I understand that plots And themes in much of our art stem from seeds other works, but in this case, the parallels are too blatant between these two series. Namely, the specific number of victims, the specific cycles of the villain, the reference to pituitary glands, and the seemingly eternal youth of this "monster of the week" in each both series make for a laughable experience as a viewer at the laziness in this writers' room. While I accept a fair amount of cheesiness and campiness in the storylines of "Smallville", sometimes the disregard for the intelligence of its audience is insulting. As I continue this viewing, I'm hoping this is an outlier situation and that the remaining episodes (of which there are hundreds) were not so cheaply repackaged sci-fi content.

This was the first Smallville Episodes i ever hated
snickzella9 December 2022
The episode before this was one is what I would call the "Point of safe return", unfortunately it's all down here from this point on, with a few good or moderately decent episodes along the way.

This show actually had a good thing going for it with the whole Meteor Freak thing. But here, we don't know if the character Maggie Lawson is playing even is one. So is it science or magic. I was so bored and annoyed while watching that i never did it figure out. Plus, I'm sick to death of the age-inappropriate casting that occurs on this show. Maggie Lawson and for that matter this whole show (for the first few seasons at least) don't even remotely look like teenagers, and they act like college kids then how teens how teens would. Then again i might be wrong about that, given how i was eight years old when this episode aired so i wouldn't know. But all in all this episode was the first one that sucked for me.
