On Hippie World, the United States lost the Battle of the Coral Sea during World War II. Consequently, Japan invaded Australia in 1942. After Germany's surrender, the Soviet Union liberated North Australia and defeated the Japanese while the Americans liberated South Australia. While the United States rebuilt their portion of Australia, the Soviet Union decided to remain in North Australia and it became a Communist state. In the 1990s, war broke out when North Australia invaded South Australia.
Chronologically, this episode occurs prior to Episode 4, Prince of Wails. This explains San Francisco being under water from the world after Hippie World and the 70s style clothing worn from Hippie World itself.
Was the first episode filmed after the pilot movie and was to have a scene where Quinn altered the timer to countdown to the next Slide. This scene was changed when the episode aired later in the season. In the final version, Quinn is just rebuilding the "overworked" timer, but the countdown function remained for the rest of the series.
The title refers to The Summer of Love when in 1967 thousands of hippies converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, creating a phenomenon of cultural and political rebellion which spread across all of North America.
