Left Alone

While in a barbecue in Balboa Park with her family, the allergic great aunt of Taylor, Jeanette Louise Bradford, is stung by a bee and dies. While driving to the funeral, David questions Keith about their threesome relation with strangers. Meanwhile, Vanessa is very eager, having a great sex with Rico and having dance classes. Nate welcomes a client that misses the loss of his beloved wife, and later he cries. Lisa travels to her sister's house, leaving Maya and Nate alone for a couple of days. Ruth questions Arthur the course of their relationship and finds that he has no sexual experience. Russell discloses to Claire that he had sex with Olivier while she was going to Azusa. Claire tells him that he is misfit and she does not want to see him anymore. Billy kisses Brenda on the mouth and she leaves his apartment completely astonished. Keith has a serious quarrel with his father, David defends him and Keith mistreats him. David leaves Keith and when he arrives in the bus station back home, Patrick is surprisingly waiting for him. While Nate is having a good time with Maya, a disturbed Brenda visits him and then she goes to a hotel to spend the night. Ruth and Claire disclose their hearts to each other.

In "Everybody Leaves", most of the characters are somehow left alone: Claire breaks off with Russell; David leaves Keith; Lisa leaves temporarily Nate; Ruth sees that her possible relationship with Arthur will never work; Brenda leaves the deranged Billy; the wife of Nate's client definitely leaves her husband. I guess that the "medicine" Vanessa is using is ecstasy. My vote is nine.

Ruth tries to take her relationship with Arthur to a new level but fails horribly which is rather amusing to watch. Nate has Maya all for himself as Lisa leaves for a few days after they have reconciled last episode. As happy as Nate is to spend some quality time with Maya at first, he starts to freak out when he isn't able to contact Lisa.

Keith and David go to Keith's aunt's funeral and Keith sees that his father has changed a lot, spoiling Taylor and not treating her bad like he used to treat Karla and Keith when they were young. There is a tender moment between Keith and David as well as his father.

Meanwhile, things aren't going as well for Claire and Russell after he has a meltdown in class. Afterwards, Russell reveals something rather unpleasant to Claire which changes everything between the two art students.

Rico and Vanessa go to dancing class and she seems very excited after she was rather depressed in the past few episodes. But there are complications.

Billy and Brenda watch a video of "Nathaniel and Isabel" which upsets Billy as it is totally different from the book. This leads to a heart-to-heart between the siblings that goes kind of wrong ...

Excellently written, like always. And it is true, in this episode you really get the impression that nothing is stable, everything is due to change, everybody could leave at any given time.
