Two good stories plus one not-so-good one.

The first and the last story are well-executed, recapturing the quality of the show's classic era. However, the middle story bears the hallmark of the lackluster quality found in the modern era of the program. The main flaw lies in depicting Homer Simpson effortlessly tossing opium addicts over his shoulder with a single arm, a painfully feeble attempt at humor that betrays the realistic foundations established in the show. Regrettably, this is the most disheartening aspect of modern-day Simpsons. Furthermore, it's not a story that elicits laughter and tends to be somewhat tedious, yet it may hold interest due to its approach and portrayal of the past, specifically the year 1890.

The best Treehouse of Horror in a long time!!!
TOMNEL18 November 2006
Stars: Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Hans Moleman, Kang, Quimby, and others. Julie Kavner as Marge and Selma. Nancy Cartwright as Bart, Maggie and Ralph. Yeardley Smith as Lisa. Hank Azaria as Apu, Moe, Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum, Officer Lou, The Boss, Professor Frink and others. Harry Shearer as Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns, Smithers, Dr. Hibbert, Officer Eddie, God, Herman, and others.

This Halloween special was so clever!! All three of the segments were very clever, and I think this was the funniest Halloween special since the 5th one.

Segment 1: The Ned Zone. Ned Flanders gets the power to see how people die by touching them in a parody of The Dead Zone. It was a great segment including my favorite Homer reading, "But ice cream cake!"

Segment 2: Four Beheadings and a Funeral. In a Sherlock Holmes parody, Lisa and Dr. Bartley try to solve the case of the muttonchop murderer. Though this segment has little to do with Halloween, it's still hilarious.

Segment 3: In the Belly of the Boss. Professor Frink accidentally shrinks Maggie and Mr. Burns eats her. The Simpsons have to make a fantastic voyage in to Mr. Burns to get her. The ending is quite similar to the end of the fifth Halloween special, but somehow fresh.

My overall rating: ****/****. 22 mins. TVPGV

Warning: Spoilers
The Treehouse of Horror continued in fine form with XV (15 for those who aren't sure about roman numerals) with the opening song from Perfect Strangers which was hilarious for sure! Also the Fantastic Voyage parody was spot-on, and it was about time that fine movie got The Simpsons treatment without a doubt.

The final scene of the characters dancing to I've Got You Under My Skin was quite moving, touching and whimsical, and in a way it was quite reminiscent of the We Love Short Shorts ending from the 1997 episode El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer).

Treehouse of Horror VI.
