Bart helps Mrs K get through to the final of a 'best teacher' competition, in an episode that's a lot of fun, as well as having a lot of heart.

I liked all the digs at Epcot (this episode is set in Florida), especially the last one.

S14 has been remarkably consistent so far, and this is a good example of that.

A Weaker Moment for Season 14, but still Fun,

Special Edna is a great Simpsons episode with a well written storyline and loads of very funny scenes. Episodes based around Edna and Bart are always very enjoyable, there is a lot of conflict between these two, seeing them help out the other is always sweet and it reminds the audience that they are genuinely friends. In comparison to other episodes in the fourteenth season, it's one of the weaker ones, it's good but when you have episodes like The Dad Who Knew Too Little, Three Gays of the Condo and Móe Baby Blues, Special Edna is left feeling not so special. I loved seeing the Simpsons go to Orlando in this episode and some of the funniest parts were seeing them parody it's many theme parks, with a huge dig at EPCOT. Special Edna is a very enjoyable Simpsons.

After Bart nominates Edna for a Teacher of the Year award, she invites the family to Florida with the hopes of winning.

The Simpson's are going to Orlando!

Edna Krabappel is nominated for Teacher of the Year after the board finds out she was Bart Simpson's teacher. Principal Skinner pursues her to Orlando, Florida, where the ceremony is to be held. Several characters ask which theme park they'll be going to, and in this episode, it's Epcot, part of Disney World (though in fact, a separate park). In our own reality, The Simpson's will be going to Universal Studios Orlando, Spring of 2008! Though it was because of Bart that the family went to Disney's EPCOT, it was Lisa who suggested they go to Universal Studios in Orlando.

The Simpson's have always been groundbreakers, with several shows following their pattern for success: Family Guy, American Dad, and have also been referenced in an episode of South Park (Simpson's Did It!). Now, we get to ride along with America's favorite yellow skinned animated family.

Epcot and electric cars

The reference to making fun of the value of electric cars in the Epcot Centre would have been hilariously true at the time, but I think audiences now would wonder why the joke was so funny at the time. I guess you had to be there, considering that Special Edna debuted in 2003, so 20 years ago in fact! Anyway, Bart nominates Edna for a teaching award, and the Simpsons accompany Edna to Orlando for the teaching award presentation.

Lots of fun in this episode, with Seymour making his way to Orlando to win Edna back, but his mom is always an obstacle to their relationship. The flashback to cupcakes was funny. So was the reference to the Rampy Award, as was the reference to Purple Rain when Little Richard appeared.

The end credit had Homer singing about pies.
