We all have the right to choose our own religion.

Warning: Spoilers
I heard that episode was pretty racist, at the same time it is but not as big as how South Park deals with religions and colors. There was once another user who reviewed this episode and he/she hated the episode because it was very racist. It was called: "Lisa minus Christianity plus Buddhism equals: A big sack of racism" i think. But it disappeared suddenly.

I do think he/she was overreacting because he/she forgets that The Simpsons is a satire cartoon and they can make fun of (almost) everything. Well let's see what you think when you see my review on what happened on the episode.

First of all Bart and Homer builds a rocket and crashes at the Church of Springfield. Not really racist because it was a coincidence it can happen in real life too, who knows? Then the whole Church turns into a Las Vegas style with signs. A bit racist but I told you it's just a satire cartoon. Then Lisa gets frustrated and quit with Christianity because of the Las Vegas Style. She want a new religion and decide to become a Buddhist. When Lisa becomes a Buddhist, Ned Flanders gets scared and don't want Buddhism to get close to him. That was racist but only on cartoon so it's OK to laugh at him for not showing respect. The Christians gets pretty mad that Lisa becomes a Buddhist and tries to turn her into a Christian again while Christmas is on it's way. Lisa gets mad, but then she finds out that Buddhist does respect other religions and holidays and even though your a Buddhist you can still celebrate many different holidays. The family at the end respects Lisa's religion and everything is OK.

The people on Springfield respects her religion ever since this episode so don't worry there hasn't been any hate episodes about her religion.

Overall it's not my favorite episode, it's an episode that you should decide if you like it or not. If you seriously hate racism don't watch this because it might be pretty hateful. If not take a look and see what you think. But I wanted to warn you that it might contain some racist moments but of course it's just a satire cartoon. It's not one of the worst episodes but yet an episode with dis-respectfulness.

Lisa Becomes a Buddhist
Christmas-Reviewer27 June 2019
Review Date 6/27/2019

I have Reviewed OVER 500 "Christmas Films and Specials". Please BEWARE Of films and specials with just one review! For instance When "It's a POSITIVE" chances are that the reviewer was involved with the production. "If its Negative" then they may have a grudge against the film for whatever reason. I am fare about these films.

Very funny episode. While watching a 1950s science fiction movie, Bart and Lisa see a commercial for a model rocket kit and Bart orders it by using Homer's credit card number. Homer helps Bart and Milhouse build it, but it blows up before launching. Jealous that Ned Flanders built a superior rocket, Homer enlists the help of his former nerdy college roommates, Gary, Doug, and Benjamin, to build a rocket piloted by the hamster Nibbles. The rocket lifts off successfully, but it develops complications and Nibbles bails out. However, Homer makes an attempt to shoot down the rocket with a 12 gauge shotgun, but the rocket crashes into the church. The church council meets up to decide how to come up with money to fund the repairs to the church. With no other aid available, they accept help from Mr. Burns and Lindsay Naegle, who wish to run the church as a business. The two rebuild the church as a commercial monstrosity, complete with advertising signs, a Lard Lad statue, and a Jumbotron. Lisa is appalled at this and abandons the church, feeling her religion has lost its soul.

That night, Lisa prays to God and assures him she has not turned her back on Him, but plans to seek a new path to Him. While on a walk around town, passing many sacrilegious signs, she finds Springfield's Buddhist temple. Inside she sees Lenny and Carl meditating, and Hollywood actor Richard Gere teaches the core concepts of Buddhism to her. An intrigued Lisa takes a pamphlet on Buddhism and studies it at home. It convinces her of the virtues of the faith, and Lisa announces out her window she has become, and forever will be, a Buddhist. Lisa plants her own bodhi tree in the back yard and begins to meditate, but Marge grows increasingly worried about Lisa's soul and tries to convince her to come back to Christianity.

There is a lesson to be learned here and it is a very good message. I love that this show took some chances here. BRAVO

Lisa Changes and Changes
e_daneva26 December 2023
She of Little Faith was an amazing episode. I have watched all of the Simpson Christmas episode, and there was 3 bad, 3 okay, 3 good, and 11 really good episodes. This episode falls in the good category. In this episode Lisa becomes a Buddhist. In this time period that this episode was made, Lisa is changing a lot. In Season 8 she became a vegetarian, and now she became a Buddhist in good old Season 13. How will Lisa change next? Will she not watch any TV anymore? Will Lisa become a vegan? There are soo many ways how Lisa would change next. Unfortunately, these days, that is not how history is going for Lisa. The only way Lisa has changed is because of Flanderization. Because of Flanderazation, Lisa is now a jerk who brags about how smart she is. This happened to almost all of the Simpsons characters. Even Marge experienced a little Flanderazation, and she was the lucky one. These days Simpsons characters are changing but not in a good way. In all, I give this episode a 7.3 out of 10.

Nice premise, bad episode

Lisa becomes a Buddhist in this so-so episode of the show, that never really makes the jump from being 'ok' to being anything overly funny.
