A really cute episode
fightgingi12 April 2007
I for one can love this episode and find it completely lovable and cute. It's the original idea of kids protecting trees from people who want to cut it down. The idea was brought up thousands of times, but I like how this episode portrayed it, and how far Lisa would go to protect this certain tree. I thought this episode was really funny, it had some really good 'Simpsons' moments, it was worth watching. I rated it seven out of ten because I don't think it had the classic originality and quality of the other episodes.

For some reason this particular episode was rated 14+ (TV-14, or whatever you call it in the U.S.), I thought of disagreeing on that, or maybe I'll just have to watch the episode again.

Very memorable episode

One of my favorites, I still watch it from time to time. Lisa falls in love with a teen environmental activist, voiced by Joshua Jackson, and goes out of her way to impress him by sitting in a tree that is going to be cut down. The jokes throughout the episode are pretty good and neatly written, especially ones with Homer and Bart (although not as funny as the humor in classic episodes from earlier seasons). Episodes centered around Lisa's activism tend to be not as popular, especially in the latter seasons where her character just becomes a preachy know-it-all. So it's nice to have an episode where her activism plays a big role be really good, especially when it treated as a trait, not her whole character. I wish modern Simpsons writers would take note or care. The best episodes with Lisa are always the ones that make you sympathize for her, this being one of them. This is also the episode that made me watch the Simpsons more often. I first saw it when I was in fifth grade and that's when I started picking up on the hidden humor and references. If you haven't seen this one, I recommend it.

One of my favorites

This episode used to be one of my all-time favorites. I still love this episode a lot, but it does lack the endearing quality of those of the earlier seasons (which someone pointed out), so I give it a 9/10.

There are just so many great Simpsons moments in this episode, SO MANY, which is why i love it so much. The best for me was probably "Take that, Lisa's beliefs!" after Bart zings Lisa by stealthy placing a Thai door-hanger menu on her nose. Also, the "Lisa's Dead! ..Unless.." is hilarious as well as the Kentucky Fried Panda and "Daughter now goes to state college, baseball caps everywhere!", and of course the closing song with the Lisa Log going cross-country!!

Ahh so many classic Simpsons moments! All of these combined with a very entertaining, spontaneous (if not exactly coherent, but that's part of the charm!) plot makes "Lisa the Tree Hugger" one of my favorite episodes.

Not up there with the best

The Simpsons sets such a high standard for itself during the golden era of seasons 3-10 it becomes hard to see 'newer' episodes in the same light.

This episode has its moments, but didn't do a lot for me unfortunately. I didn't think the story was that funny.
