Unfair reviews and ratings

"I'm Going To Praiseland" is an episode that remains an entertaining watch for me, even as The Simpsons' golden age slowly starts to fade. It's evident that those who rate it poorly may not have seen the more recent and lackluster episodes that have been produced. For me, this still belongs to the show's golden age, albeit with a hint of fading brilliance.

The amusement lies in observing how people initially react positively to the theme park, only to have their perspectives change as the story unfolds. Personally, I love the segment featuring Disco Stu in heaven; it's a memorable and enjoyable part for me. Critics who nitpick about the episode aging should refrain from doing so in a review. It's unfair to fault a work for something beyond the author's control during its creation. In fact, such episodes, like many older ones in the series, hold the charm of offering glimpses into history and making references to the popular culture of their time. This aspect is a positive attribute, as it allows viewers to learn from the past, enriching our cultural legacy and history. For those who don't appreciate such historical insights, they may be missing out on the rich tapestry.

IT'S GOOD BUT ODD

My opinion, not yours, agree, disagree!

POSTIVES Storyline: I actually like the idea of Flanders being the main spotlight of the episode about building a Christian Park. It's good and heartfelt.

Jokes: The jokes are alright but it's nothing to great to remember about.

Heartfelt: It's simple it cares about Flander's situation in life.

NEGATIVES

It's Odd: To be honest I didn't mind the storyline and plot, but throughout this episode, I just felt weird and little odd towards the end. Maybe because things moved too quickly at the end or something else.

It's aged: This episode has easily aged and it's a shame for a Season 12 episode, you would think a little bit more, but of course this point of the Simpsons would change it's cultural.

OVERALL

It's still a good episode, but differently not great. It feels odd and weird for the entire episode, but yet it was good. Strange.

QUOTE FROM THE SHOW

"Yeah how about that."

Ned's bemusement park

Warning: Spoilers
I'm Goin' to Praiseland, a tribute to Maude, is an episode that divides viewers for sure, especially with its take on tongues in some religions which will either resonate with some viewers, bemuse them, or not. Anyway, I'm Goin' to Praiseland falls outside the golden era which in my humble opinion is the first 10 years of The Simpsons.

I'm Goin' to Praiseland also deals with Ned trying to deal with the premature loss of Maude. On that level I'm Goin' to Praiseland is quite touching and would resonate. I'm Goin' to Praiseland is one to watch at least once and be prepared to have an opinion on it.

An episode to skip
studioAT17 January 2020
There have been quite a few 'Simpson family centric' episodes in the 12th year of the show (and what a bad one it was overall!), so I was glad to see that in this one Flanders takes centre stage, building a Christian theme park in memory of Maude.

And then the episode got weird. And unfunny, full of lame jokes and characters acting unlike how we expect them to be.

Not a good episode.
