Typical but Classic Homer Simpson,
lesleyharris3022 April 2014
Homerpalooza is a fantastic Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline that is filled with very funny scenes and memorable quotes. The humour in the episode is quite different from a usual episode, for example, there are several jokes about getting high, which you would rarely see on the Simpsons, but this didn't bother me one bit,it was fun to see the show take a different turn that was unique and still hilarious. Some of the many quotes of Homer is definitely this episodes highlight, like his comment on Christianity and saying that the concert spread a good message just because he had "no litter" written on his stomach.Homerpalooza is a hilarious Simpsons that fans will definitely enjoy.

After it is discovered a cannonball to the stomach dosen't affect Homer,he tracked around with several well known music artists in the Hullabalooza music festival as part of the show.

It'll happen to you

Homer takes Bart and Lisa to a music festival.

This is a very strong episode that tackles the themes of ageing, relevance and subcultures very well.

I didn't appreciate Homerpalooza until my recent rewatch. I can very much identify with the alienation that comes with getting older and no longer feeling part of a youth culture. In this episode, my generation (x) are the snobby kids looking down their beaks at forty-somethings trying to fit in, but watching it in 2022 as a middle-aged man, gives the story a certain level of irony.

There are some great moments lampooning Homer trying (badly) to recapture his youth, whilst at the same time it parodies the perception of "coolness" and what it actually means outside of fashion, musical tastes and conformity.

Great Bands
Hitchcoc14 July 2022
True rock fans would still love those bands Homer loved. This is a great take on the dullness of vapid, overproduced music currently around. The kids are portrayed as dull themselves with little regard for even their own music. Homer becomes a guy who has cannonballs shot at his stomach.

The young 'uns learn about rock'n'roll!
nixskits29 December 2009
"The Simpsons" have been on the air since I was a teen, as shocking as that might be! And the differences in musical taste never feel more apparent between really young viewers and older fogeys like myself than here. In this episode, my personal favourite of all, Homer gets to take Bart and Lisa to one of the travelling 'loozas that are all over the place in the post Woodstock marketplace. Since that muddy festival in the rain, money hungry promoters have been looking for massive crowds to make even more bucks. And the integrity of what Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction fame started with "Lollapalooza" has taken a few hits over the years. Too much greed and not enough restraint in just who should grace the stage is what makes many sour on these concepts, as well as ever higher ticket prices.

Of course a born hustler like Mr. Burns has his bony fingers in the pie, owning the ticket shafters who are charging a ridiculous service fee on top of the face value so music lovers can go watch Peter Frampton, Cypress Hill, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins and more, including Homer's dangerous party trick that eventually takes a toll on his very round equator. Great songs by Mountain and Grand Funk are heard in this oddly touching take on the generation gap between parents and their children. And who'd have have guessed a string section accompanying Cypress Hill would make such beautiful music?

When the Simpsons was great

Warning: Spoilers
I'd say the first 10 years of The Simpsons was the golden years for sure, and Homerpalooza is proudly one of them. The cameos are jam-packed meaningfully into this fine episode, and definitely it's for the ages. It's hard to believe this episode is over 25 years old!
