George Costanza strikes again and again
zfiany1 July 2009
If you are a Costanza and Jerry fan and you always wondered how those two have this chemistry together while George is so desperate and Jerry is has the kind of life which is complete opposite to George's. Where George is unemployed, unlucky with women, always degrade himself by eating from trash or pretending to be handicapped or whatever else that George does and Jerry is usually despises his acts yet they are the closest friends among the four and God they did have the best conversation between two friends ever. And I always thought that what made them that close is exactly how opposite they are as if Jerry appreciates his life because of Costanza's sufferings and George aspires to Jerry's. N e ways, in this episode, George is going out with an Asian lawyer and she thinks he is so funny so when Jerry and Elaine join them for dinner, George asks Jerry to act serious so that the lawyer doesn't like Jerry and the funny situations attack like an avalanche from here. Jerry acts all the time on the table as depressed and so sad and when the lawyers asks him what is your work, he answers I am a comedian... I mean waw how funny can this be. Ironically, the lawyer gets attracted to this dark side of Jerry and decides to dump George claiming that Jerry is a disturbed character and then George replies : I'm disturbed, I am depressed, I'm inadequate. I've got it all. And sure he does. Don't miss this one... it is so funny... it's just the magic of Costanza and Jerry.

"Happy birthday? No such thing"

A bit of a downfall from the perfect streak but Season 4 still remains on a high standard.

The Visa sees the continuation of the accident that happened in The Virgin with Elaine and Ping. George is dating a lawyer that happens to be Ping's cousin. She thinks George is funny so he asks Jerry to not be funny. The result is, ironically, hilarious. There's a great scene where Sheryl tells George that she's in love with Disturbed Jerry and George tells her the truth and shows her who is the real disturbed person. A great observation between the 'idolized' disturbed stereotype and the real disturbed person.

The only things that drags the episode down is Kramer's story. There are some recurrent Kramer stories that reach a point of disbelief that the only thing they manage to do is set him more apart from the rest of the cast. The best Kramer's stories are the ones everyone can relate and there is where his eccentric persona shines.

Apart from that, The Visa is a great filler and a great 'continuity' episode that enriches more the Seinfeld world.

Babu returns
safenoe19 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Brian George returns as Babu Bhatt, who first made his very memorable appearance in the season three episode, The Cafe. I happened to see Babu again in the Seinfeld finale, which I re-watched today after having first watched it in 1998 and I was very disappointed. Anyway, Maggie Han plays immigration lawyer Cheryl, and Ping Wu makes his third appearance as Ping. Anyway, it's a shame Ping didn't make an appearance in the Seinfeld finale, because I think his appearance alone would have lifted the standard for sure.

Anyway, this is probably Seinfeld peak, compared to much of seasons eight and nine after Larry David left.

George is such an idiot.

Warning: Spoilers
The Plot of the episode: George is dating a lawyer named Cheryl who thinks George is hilarious. George tries to keep Jerry and Elaine from meeting her because he's afraid that she'll laugh at more of Jerry's jokes than hers. Jerry pretends to be a depressed person and she gets more into him. Kramer returns form Baseball fantasy camp. Elaine is being sued by Ping, who Elaine accidentally injured. Cheryl is Ping's cousin, so she is going to help Elaine out. She is also going to help Babu Bhatt(From The Caffe) out because his visa expired and he is being deported.

I like Babu Bhatt a lot. He is only in three episodes and it's clear that he has not had a good life. First, his restaurant was a failure and now he is being deported back to Pakistan. Seinfeld is such a funny show. It shows how stupid some people can be. George proves how much of an idiot he is in many episodes. if it's that comeback or something else, he ends up screwing someone over. George screw over Elaine and Babu in this episode. Well, George is a screwup. so that settles it. But he's a hilarious screwup.

No Stupidity Left Unsaid
Hitchcoc4 September 2022
First of all all, harsh reality. Babu is being deported to Pakistan because his Visa renewal went to Jerry's mailbox. He was out of town and Elaine refused to bring him the mail she had collected for him. Meanwhile, George has been attracted to a pretty Asian woman who thinks he is funny. He can't be happy with that. He worries that Jerry's wit, humor, and charm will undermine his chances. So he talks Jerry into acting like a depressed, hopeless man. Of course, this all backfires. In the middle of all this is Ping's lawsuit. A common threat in this series is the inability of people to keep their mouths shut. Also, Babu is hung out to dry with almost no thought for what has happened to him.
