Kramer as a serial killer!? I'm in!
SLionsCricketreviews30 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The brilliance of "Seinfeld" lies in Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld being able to conjure magic out of very abstract ideas. They've proved this in the past with episodes like "The Parking Garage" or even, as recent as "The Parking Space". "The Trip Pt. 2" is no different, as Kramer is convicted of murdering a woman under an alias known as "The Smog Stranger".

Elaine is still absent in this season, but to be frank, her absence helps the plot move more smoothly. In this episode, Jerry and George attempt to vindicate Kramer of the murders by hitching a ride in a police car.

Jerry and George's argument about an egg salad sandwich for lunch is one of many examples of sublime writing on the show. Kramer's interrogation scene is hysterical, needless to say, Michael Richards nails physical and facial acting.

Kramer's indifference to him being accused of the murders was brilliant, as Jerry and George looked in disbelief! When Kramer is finally released, the three dance in celebration outside the police station. This was brilliant, as it shows that "Seinfeld" is a show not about sentimentality like "Friends" or "How I Met Your Mother" but a show where each character is too self centered to often notice the other. This occurs a lot in dialogue, where different characters would talk about their own dilemmas, without receiving any counseling by the others. "Seinfeld" is about nothing.

"The Trip Pt 2" is a wonderful wrap up to the two parter that opened the season.

Kramer the serial killer...
MaxBorg8927 February 2009
The Trip: Part 2 is an excellent continuation of the Season Four premiere of Seinfeld, shifting its focus from the media to a mercilessly entertaining spoof of police procedures (an element that resurfaces in later episodes as well).

What happens is that while Jerry was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (and George couldn't keep his mouth shut as usual), Kramer, now a struggling actor, was arrested by the LAPD for a series of grisly murders (his name popped up during the investigation and the detectives came to the wrong conclusion). After witnessing the arrest on TV, Jerry and George do their best (amd Kramer his worst) to convince the police that it's all a big mistake, while the real killer is still at large, waiting for his next victim. Oh, and again, no Elaine.

People getting wrongfully arrested, or just in trouble with the police, is a necessary plot line in most comedy shows nowadays. No one, however, has done it better than the Seinfeld writers, who knew exactly what buttons to push and for how long. Kramer's famous interrogation (one of several reasons why he deserved his second consecutive Emmy win in 1993) is a pitch-perfect parody of your average thriller, not to mention an ironic counterpoint to Season Two episode The Statue, where Jerry's adorably inventive neighbor posed as a cop.

Plus, in regards to the show's immortal "no hugs, no learning" rule, it doesn't get much more suitable than at the end of the episode, where we see the guys' reactions to Kramer's release. Boy, those people just can't seem to care about anyone but themselves - and that's exactly why Seinfeld is the funniest show ever made.

Kramer as a serial killer is hilarious!
julyanclaverie11 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
*Minor spoilers below*

The trip part 1 and 2 are both hilarious episodes that start series 4 perfectly! I wasn't so thrilled by season 1 who wasn't that funny but season 2 started to makes me laugh and season 3 was really great and consistently hilarious! But this 2 parter episode is by far the best episode of the show without hesitate! I laughed so much during the call of Seinfeld and George in L.A when George asked where they were and that men replied "On Earth". That was the best line of the show so far! And what can I say about the story of this episode? A killer! Kramer is suspected of having killed a woman he just met because he is simply a weirdo. Hilarious! I am really excited about this show now and it is so great! That's why I give this episode a 10 out of 10!

"Part 2". The start of an award winning Emmy breakthrough season for Seinfeld, this is a true classic, and one of the best episodes ever!
callanvass4 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
(plot). Jerry and George discover that Kramer is suspected as the serial killer known as the "Smog Strangler".

The start of an award winning Emmy breakthrough season for Seinfeld, this is a true classic, and one of the best episodes ever. I loved the argument that Jerry,George and Clint Howard had about how much to tip a chambermaid, and I would say this was even better then the 1st half!,plus I loved the ending too. I gotta say Elaine's presence was missing though, but that's a minor thing, and The dialog is absolutely brilliant, plus another one of my favorite moments is when Jerry and George make Siren noises, in the Police Car. Also it was very funny when George assumes Jerry meant his breath stinks, when he just meant bye some mints or tic Tacs so he could get some change, and Kramer's crying scene where the Detective is all over him was very silly, but still quite hilarious just the same, plus Iv'e seen this over and over, and it always manages to make me crack up!. This was the start of an award winning Emmy breakthrough season for Seinfeld, this is a true classic and one of the best episodes ever!.

Favorite quotes.

(Opening). George: What are we supposed to do, what do you do in a situation like this?, should we call a lawyer, should we call The Police. Jerry: Obviously were gonna call the Police, and tell them He's not the guy!. George: We think He's not the guy. Jerry: Couldn't be the guy, Nah. George: God I'm starved, I'm weak with hunger. Jerry: How can you think of food at a time like this!. George: A time like what?, I'm hungry, my stomach Doesen't know that Kramer's wanted. Jerry: I told you to have Breakfast, you should have had Breakfast. George: I couldn't have Breakfast it was lunch time!, the 3 hour time difference, threw me, I wanted a tuna fish sandwich, they wouldn't serve me, because they were only serving Breakfast. Jerry: You should have had some Eggs. George: For lunch?, who eats Eggs for lunch?. Jerry: Have you ever heard of Egg salad!.

Jerry: I have no change, you got any change?. George: No I don't have any change, I never carry any change. Jerry: I all got is 20's. George: I have a 10. Jerry: So break it. George: I hate asking for change, they always make a face, It's like I'm asking them to donate a kidney.

Jerry: Buy something. George: What?. Jerry: I don't know some mints or tic Tacs!. George: Breath problem?. Jerry: No I just want some change. George: Tell me. Jerry: You're breath is fine, It's delightful, It's delicious!. George: You know I Haven't eaten anything. Jerry: I just wanna call the police!.

(Jerry Phone conversation with police). Jerry: What is my name?, who am I?, I'm George Costanza.

*George leaning up against Jerry*. Jerry: Get yourself a mint or something.

George: Excuse me where are we?. Guy: Earth.

George: Excuse me what street are we on?. Lady: I don't know. George: How could you not know what street Your on. Lady: You don't know.

*Kramer's famous scene). Kramer: I didn't kill anyone, I swear!, I swear to god!. Martel: Don't you ever swear to my god Kramer!, my God protects the innocent and punishes evil scum like you!, have you got that?!. Kramer: You're making a big mistake. Martel: No! you made a mistake Kramer!, Sickies like you always do, the only difference is this time You're gonna pay, now you might beat The Gas Chamber, but as long as Iv'e got a breath in my body, you will never ever see the light of day again!. Kramer: Whoa,Whoa,Whoa, you got the wrong man it wasn't me!. Martel: Oh yeah right, maybe it was one of your other personalities, the wise guy, the little kid, the bellhop, the ball player, maybe the door to door Vacum cleaner salesman, but not you, no you wouldn't hurt a fly, but you just couldn't help yourself could you Kramer!?, you saw like Brimming Brightley, with optimism, and verve, and you just had to snuff it out. Kramer: Can I talk to somebody?, can I just explain, your not letting me explain!. Martel: I don't want any of your explanations Kramer!, sure I bet You've got a Million of Em, maybe your Mother didn't love you enough, maybe The Teacher Didn't call on you enough when ya had your little hand raised, maybe the pervert in the park had a present in his pants Huh, your a weed Kramer. Kramer: No. Martel: Society's filled with them, Kramer: No. Martel: Your choking the life out of all those pretty little flowers. *Kramer crying*. Martel: You killed the pretty little flowers didn't you, you dirty filthy stinking weed!.

*Kramer out of jail*. Kramer: Ah Ha!. George: What happened?. Kramer: Somebody got killed, while they had me in custody. Jerry: Really?, you hear that? somebody else was killed!. George: No kidding, somebody else got killed. Jerry: While he was in Jail!, so your free!. Kramer: Yes I'm free *singing*, because the murderer struck again!.

Was Clint Howard the Smog Strangler?
Sirus_the_Virus28 August 2009
Warning: Spoilers
The Plot: In The Trip Part 2, Kramer has been arrested. He is accused of being the Smog Strangler, who murdered Kramer's girlfriend in The Trip Part 1. When George and Jerry find out what has happened, they go to get him and the three of them go back home.

The Trip Part 2 isn't quite as good as The Trip Part 1. But i'm pretty sure that we were all happy that Kramer returned to New York. We all thought he was going to come back. But at first he decided to stay in Los Angeles. Clint Howard did guest star as The Smog Strangler, who Kramer was accused of being. Clint Howard and Ron Howard are hideous, so they're convincing as killers. Like with Kramer, if they were up for murder and I didn't know who they were, I would probably think they were serial killers. The Trip Part 2 is a good episode. But what am I saying? There isn't a bad episode of Seinfeld.

Tasteless....And Amazing
Hitchcoc21 August 2022
When the guys realize that Kramer is wanted as a serial killer, they decide to try to get him off. Following their efforts, using a pay phone, there is so much hilarity (dark as it is) that I could hardly stop laughing. Great stuff in the back seat of a police car and Clint Howard makes a great seat companion after being arrested. The final scene is so wrong and yet it is so right.

L.A. Story
safenoe29 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The Trip Part 2 is what I think has to be peak Seinfeld, with the meta-aspects of Jerry and George going to Los Angeles (where Seinfeld was mostly filmed, even the street scenes which had that L. A. feel because it looked so clean init) to locate Kramer, fresh off his appearance as a secretary on Murphy Brown, which we saw in The Trip Part 1. Anyway, I'm enjoying much re-watching and reflecting on Seinfeld after having first watched it when it debuted in the early 1990s, and it's amazing how long it's endure, the catch-phrases. Anyway, thankfully in this episode Kramer is exonerated from a crime he didn't commit so all's well.

It's really a George & Jerry mingle episode
ThunderKing627 February 2023
They carried this episode. They were like little kids. And it worked.

February 27 2023 is the date that this good review was written on IMDb.

About: it's really of George and Jerry mingling about random thing and most of it had nothing to do with the plot of Kramer being accused of murder.

Kramer's story was just there.

No Elaine which is what made this episode great.

Story and Production: Not much of a story going on. The focus was entirely on George and Jerry making hilarious remarks. Kramer seemed more like a side character.

Production was well. If feel the camera quality/effect of show made the episode feel like they were in the 80s.

Highlight: All of George & Jerry dialogue. If you are bhvaing a bad day they were lighten the mood.

The smug Strangler dialogue in the car.

Kramer yelling at the window

The murder struck again song

Kramer Throwing the keys.

Villian?: Smug strangler

What can be learned?: remember to tip

Should you watch this?: Most def. A good 2 parter episodes.
