I mean if you're reading this review you're probably already aware of who the Soup Nazi is and NO SOUP FOR YOU.

This is an episode of important cultural significance.

Ask any Seinfeld fan to name their top 5 episodes and Soup Nazi will always be in the list.

Iconic

Warning: Spoilers
"The Soup Nazi" is one of the most iconic Seinfeld episodes in its history. I don't think anyone would argue with the statement that "No soup for you!" is the show's most quoted and recognized line. The Soup Nazi is probably on screen for a combined 3 minutes at most but he uses that time well! He leaves an unforgettable impression.

The rest of the episode is fabulous is well. Kramer & Elaine's armoire thieves, Jerry's baby talk, it all works! One of my favorite episodes of the series and for good reason! Just all around solid!

Really nice guy, great episode
princessstrickland2130 September 2018
I have actually met Larry Thomas (aka soup nazi) not only is he small, but he's a very nice guy.

This episode was hilarious, although back in New York, there was some heated contraversy over a soup stand. It makes you want soup so much. 100% great episode. Next to the "pen" episode as well as the "bet" episode, this is one amazing episode. NO SOUP FOR YOU!

May Be the Best
Hitchcoc1 February 2023
So many others have already said how wonderful this episode is. It begins with the gang eating before a movie. Kramer has been going to a place where a guy serves soup. He is a nasty man who glowers at people and if they offend him in any way, he refuses them soup. The thing is the soup is sensational and in the Seinfeld world, losing out is devastating. Elaine walks in and breaks all the rules and gets tossed out. The second plot is an armoire that has been purchased by Elaine, that is taken from Kramer by a couple thugs. And lastly, the sickening relationship between Jerry and his girlfriend who use pet names in public. George has his efforts backfire as he tries to show how awful this behavior is. It's the best.

The iconic Soup Nazi
cherylkyrandia1 April 2023
This episode of Seinfeld revolves around the best soup store in all of New York. And Jerry's public displays of affection with his new girlfriend. The soup nazi is one of the most iconic and unique performances I've seen in this series. He has this grumbling unnerving energy and is a maverick of sorts. "I slave for my soup". He forms an unlikely friendship with Kramer, who saves Elaine in her moment of need via the soup nazi. It's a funny episode made funnier by the gay gangster couple and Newman. The episode literally got me into eating soup - I wondered how soup could be that good. And then discovered it is!

The peak of Seinfeld's type of comedy
marioreds-4045313 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is easily the best episode of Seinfeld, or at the very least the funniest of this series. It's also referenced in Scrubs and it's not surprising, because it's so iconic of the kind of quirky and at times surreal comedy of Seinfeld. It's the one episode many will know and remember even if they haven't watched much of the show. As we all know and as Seinfeld itself says in a meta-episode, this is a show "about nothing", built on everyday experiences rather than stories, in which the comedy derives from the main characters facing situations that challenge our expectations based on what we usually consider normal. The Soup Nazi is the best representative of this model of comedy: we would expect a vendor to be first and foremost interested in selling the product, but in here the personal obsession with a certain order subverts our expectations and it reaches a peak when it's pushed to the point where the cashier (on the order of the soup nazi) gives back the money to George and takes back the soup from him, because he caused a disturbance in the process.

Warning: Spoilers
The Plot of the episode: Jerry and his new girlfriend irritate everyone by using baby talk. So George does it with Susan to show how stupid it is. Everyone goes to this new soup place because the soup is fantastic. The problem with it is that when people go they have to follow a certain ordering procedure otherwise he'll kick them out. They call him the Soup Nazi. Jerry and his girlfriend are kicked out but Jerry dumps her so then he can have the soup. Elaine buys an Armour and asks Kramer to watch it while she goes and gets soup. Kramer is mugged by these gay thugs. So Kramer gets a new one from the Soup Nazi, and Elaine finds something in there that is very valuable.

The Soup Nazi is a classic episode. We all know it is. Everyone in the world has seen or heard of the Soup Nazi. It's a hilarious episode that i'm not going to say much for because we all know how great it is. it's also an episode that was based on the truth. so yes, the Soup Nazi was real.

"Just pick it up!"
juanmaffeo9 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Now, I really would've loved to see The Soup Nazi when it first aired. When nobody knew anything about the place or the character and be able to experience it for the first time. Sadly I've not only heard a million times about this episode, but I've been stupid enough to watch certain scenes from Youtube when I was younger. So when I watched The Soup Nazi for the first I was more than familiar with everything and that made a huge difference.

Revisiting it this time, I tried to maintain a clear head and not think about what I remembered from the episode and this is what I make of it.

The Soup Nazi has a killer idea. It's not just the character of the chef or the things that happen inside the store, but rather the way people react to the soup fever. It starts as a kind of myth and when the gang goes there everyone is losing their s*** about the soup and are willing to accept the Nazi's requests in terms of client behavior. Also, it's great that the writers decided to bring familiar characters to the store, like Bannia or Newman. This gives it another sense of realism. So, yeah, everything about the Soup Nazi is perfect.

Unfortunately the other two stories aren't quite as good. They are good stories nevertheless. Jerry has a girlfriend with which he is constantly using baby dialogue and I'm sure everyone has encounter this at least once in his/her life. As a consequence, George decides to do the same with Susan in front of Jerry just to prove to him that it is quite the annoying habit. Susan's reaction gives another level of depth to their relationship and, therefore, to the season's arc.

The other story revolves around Elaine buying an armoire from the street and Kramer taking care of it until the moving crew appears on Monday. Eventually a gay/robbers couple decides to take the armoire with them and scare the s*** out of Kramer along the way. I don't know exactly what it is about these two guys but I couldn't find them more entertaining. Because, I mean, I listen to their dialogues and it is not specifically funny but it's just so original that right from the get go they are different from any supporting character that had appeared before them (and there were quite a few). Anyway, Kramer gets another armoire from the Soup Nazi and Elaine finds that inside its shelves are the recipes of all the Soup Nazi's famous soups. So, in spite of all the mistreatment she received from the Nazi, she decides to take him out of the business. Nevertheless I kind of feel sad for the guy.

As I said, not a perfect episode, but definitely a strong addition to Season's 7 streak of great episodes.

Jerry and Kramer are impressed of the taste of the soup of a strict cook who they call "the soup Nazy". George can't get soup from the "Nazy".

Warning: Spoilers
It is one of the greatest episodes of Seinfeld. I especially love the way the four turn very simple things into "big deals" and the way they are able to create humor from everything. I love the non-conformism of Kramer, the rebellion of George against the world, the livelihood of Elaine and the "simple" way in which Jerry complicates everything. This is one of the funniest episodes. I especially loved to see how Kramer manages to be friends with anybody, even with the "nazy" who treated everybody badly. I loved George's attempts to get soup and his reactions at the failure. I loved Kramer's reaction while the two gay-like "toughs" were stealing Elaine's furniture, and so many other things that you'll surely discover in this episode. Enjoy.

One of the best sitcom episodes in TV's history
kevin-101022 December 2006
"Seinfeld" was one of best TV sitcom series ever produced, and "The Soup Nazi" was probably the best episode of "Seinfeld." Go out of your way to see it! Seriously! Check IMDb to see when it airs, and see it! You won't be disappointed. I've seen it half a dozen times, and each time I enjoy it more.

The Soup Nazi has become one of most memorable TV guest characters of all time. A few years after the episode first aired, we were on vacation and went to a "strip mall" sushi bar. This gruff sushi chef/owner was behind the counter making sushi and occasionally arguing/swearing at/insulting his lone waitress. A customer called and all we heard at our end was an irritated "Very busy...2-3 hours...No" A lone diner at the end of the sushi counter looked his way and asked "Excuse me, do you have uni?" No answer. The diner glanced our way as if to ask "Was my question audible? Is this guy just ignoring me?" So he asks the question again. This time the sushi chef/owner hardly looks up, continues working awhile, and then says "No, too expensive." Then he mutters under his breath "Stupid question!" From that day forward, although he never exactly said "No sushi for you! Next!", he has always been fondly remembered by us as "The Sushi Nazi."

Al Yeganeh in the spotlight
safenoe6 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
If it wasn't for the imdb trivia, I wouldn't have known that the real-life person upon whom this episode was based, Al Yeganeh, was infuriated by his depiction in one of the most famous episodes of all time in Seinfeld. Anyway, Larry Thomas, who played the central character, should have won an Emmy for his guest role, and no doubt he would be famous at Seinfeld conventions. On the menu board you see crab biqsue, jambalaya, french onion, amongst other things, and it's a shame we didn't see any more references to the soup place because that would have at least extended the joke beyond this episode.

Elaine, No paper bag for you unfortunately.
ThunderKing69 March 2023
Soup. Another episode about soup.

In the month of March 08 in the year 2023 (hey future people!!) this review was written.

About: A Hydra soup cooker randomly sets shop in New York City. Everyone loves his soup at the same time fear Hydra Soup Man.

George tires to get soup while being lovey-dovey with Susan Ross.

Jerry is lovey-dovey and loves the Hydra Soup Man

Kramer feuds with the street toughs.

Elaine continues to be a Bword.

Story and Production: Great story based on a true story. I just wish they gave the Hydra Soup Man more to do.

Production, it was fine.

Highlight: No soup for you. Elaine looking like a witch in the end.

Laugh Meter: 7. George being annoyed by Jerry was funny, and being Lovey-Dovey with Susan.

Villian: Elaine. She's so ugggh!

Girlfriend Attractiveness Level: Jerry's girl was meh. I'll give her a 3. Susan is an ok 4.5

What can be learned?: Keep Bword femmies away from soup

Verdict: Soup for you. A good episode to enjoy.
