Side-splitting Jerry Torture
As though the name tags idea wasn't insane enough, Kramer gets the idea of having a community board with everyone's name and photo displayed. It's well intentioned (and so were the name tags) but backfires disastrously, of course. Not because it's an invasion of privacy, but because the people in Jerry's building have the annoying habit of greeting each other with a kiss on the cheek, and when Jerry is in their line of sight, it's unwarranted. Jerry suffers in the most hilarious way in this episode, although it's a little uncomfortable given that here he didn't do anything to deserve what happens to him and wasn't even that rude when he dodged his neighbors invasive greetings. The unflattering photo Kramer takes of Jerry with his camera, the ways Jerry tries to avoid the kisses, and the kiss on the mouth he gets from Kramer are all side splitting. Another top-notch Seinfeld episode.

The IMDb rating does not justify just how hysterical this episode is!

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing an IMDb rating of 8.4, I wasn't expecting a great episode here. I was wrong. Not only is "The Kiss Hello" a funny episode, it is easily one of my favourites of the sixth season yet.

One of the earlier reviewers pointed out that Jerry Seinfeld really shines in this episode, and it is true. Where most of the criticism with "Seinfeld" lies in Seinfeld's acting, I feel that criticism is not validated. Seinfeld delivers a hell of a funny performance, and his acting is surprisingly great.

The rest of the characters are all terrific. George and Elaine have shining moments, none more so than when they tell Wendy to change her ridiculous hair. No more need be said about JLD and Jason Alexander; they are phenomenal.

Kramer is of course, at his usual best. His idea here makes for volumes of humour, each bit pays off well. We also get more of Uncle Leo, a terrific addition to this episode. Helen and Morty are also fantastic, as per usual. The vast array of characters each have excellent moments, even characters like Wendy.

"The Kiss Hello" is excellent, and its highly underrated. Scene after scene is filled with excellently written humour by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld.

Jerry the Outcast
Samuel-Shovel24 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Kiss Hello", Kramer makes it his mission to make the apartment building a friendlier place. Jerry is ostracized when he refuses to take part in the "kiss hello" anymore. Elaine struggles to tell a friend that her hair style is dated. George goes to this same friend for physical therapy treatment and is distraught when she charges him for a session that he canceled. Jerry learns that Uncle Leo owes his mother $50 from the 1960's that he never paid her.

This is actually a really outstanding episode. All the plot threads still hold up and everyone is on top of their game in this one. I think that it's a bit underrated (based upon IMDb's rating) just like a previous review stated. Any episode with Uncle Leo appearance is okay by me.

Season 6, Episode 16, "The Kiss Hello"

"The Kiss Hello" is rarely remembered as a classic Seinfeld episode but it's a personal favorite of mine. Jerry, for once, is the real star of the show and his acting shines more than usual; he's accompanied by his entire famiy - including Uncle Leo (Len Lesser) and Nana (Billye Ree Wallace) who are at their most insane and hilarious. Leo especially is at his very best.

Also worthy of special notice is the wonderful Wendie Malick (Just Shoot Me) as a friend of Elaine's with outrageous 50's hair, and throughout the episode she interacts with all four cast members, all making for truly hilarious scenes.

Hair Raising!
Hitchcoc8 January 2023
Elaine's physical therapist friend Wendy (played by Wendie Malick who is currently the college president on Young Sheldon) has big hair. She also has a habit of "hello kissing." Jerry is turned off by this casual stuff and tries to avoid her. He and Elaine find her hair style ridiculous but don't have the heart to tell her. What they need is a fall guy and that turns out to be Kramer. He tends to be quite blunt and they feel he will mention her hair. In the subplot, Kramer decides to put up pictures of everyone in the apartment building with names, so they will all be friendly. Every one is kissing everyone else, but Jerry refuses and draws the wrath of everyone. There is also another plot where George decides to try to develop a relationship with Wendy by faking a wrist injury. She charges him a full fee for her services. It's really a great episode, especially as Jerry tries to talk to his apartment associates.

Howlarious Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Two things really make "The Kiss Hello" stand out. Jerry's reaction to the annoying practice of having to kiss everyone in his building whenever they see him is hilarious. He just doesn't want to do it. And when he lets them know, it's pretty telling about human nature, and very funny to watch their reactions to him.

The other thing about this episode is the hilarious, rather nasty character played by Wendie Malick. Her big "high school yearbook" hairdo is one of the great sight-gags of the series. And a classic moment comes when Elaine and Jerry introduce her to Kramer: he compliments her on her hair!

Ahead of its time

Warning: Spoilers
The Kiss Hello debuted in 1995, so wow, nearly 30 years ago, and yet it was groundbreaking. So why you ask, well because Kramer plants a kiss right on the lips of Jerry in this episode, and I'm surprised the conservatives in the southern states didn't launch boycotts of the network and all.

Anyway, Wendie Malick plays Wendy, and the cancellation charge plotline was hilarious. Seinfeld writer Carol Leifer plays Wendy's receptionist to great effect. Also, I noticed, well it was rather conspicuous, the blue screen behind the car that Wendy was driving, with Elaine as the passenger, returning from their snow trip.

Not Hilarious
film_poster_fan13 October 2021
Wendie Malick, who guest stars in this episode, ruins almost anything in which she appears. She was Martin Crane's (John Mahoney) love interest in the final season of "Frasier" and the viewer had to suffer through ten episodes of her poor acting. At least she only is in this episode and she is far from hilarious. The Jerry, Uncle Leo, and the rest of his family portion of the episode is funny, but not quite up to the standards of a Seinfeld classic.
