Janice from Friends in this episode of seinfeld A very good one , every ep focus on George is a great one, seinfeld Late Season 3 is clearly better than the first two and the first 7-8 ep of Season 3 So Cynthia ( Janice) finally find her perfect Desperate man.. Chandler Bing ! ) And By the way Georges love her voice, kinda funny considering everyone hate Janice voice on Friends.

"There's a hue"

It is true that Season 4 was the one that really perfected the show's formula but that credit should go in big part to the previous season. In its run, Season 3 began experimenting with everything that came up: bottle episodes (The Parking Garage, The Subway, The Limo), inside thoughts (The Boyfriend, The Subway, again), bleeped cursing (The Subway, AGAIN), unsuitable themes (The Tape, The Note, The Subway (whatever), this episode), but ,most important of all, they began finding their dialogue and writing style. And this episode is a benchmark for the show in that aspect.

One story line concerning four characters (not Kramer, but Cynthia). The dialogue throughout the episode is as clever as it gets. The contrast between the superficial conversations between men and between women, the fully realized character of Cynthia. Not only the dialogue, but the story is relentless: phone conversations (with one of the first appearances of the split screen), the recurring fights, the little details thrown in there (Jerry's crisis with the soda, Elaine painting her apartment) that has nothing to do with the plot but just makes the characters so more realistic.

And the master Cherones giving such a perfectly subtle direction that's at the same time TV-like and cinematic.

Season 3 has it's up and downs and it is why it isn't consider one of the greats, but I believe that this season had more to do with Seinfeld's success than any other (aside from 4 and 5).

"He's bald?"

Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't the fourth season that got Seinfeld recognized at the Emmys. Sure, the fourth year was the only time the show won Outstanding Comedy Series, but it could already boast a couple of awards at the end of its third series: Best Supporting Actor for Michael Richards (who else?) and, thanks to this wonderful episode, Outstanding Writing for Larry Charles (who went on to work with Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Elaine Pope. And it's quite some writing.

The Fix Up does exactly what it says on the tin: it's about Jerry and Elaine fixing up George with a friend of hers, Cynthia (Maggie Wheeler). Despite some initial hesitation on either's behalf (Elaine's first description of Costanza is not the definition of a turn-on), the two get along fabulously, at least until Cynthia misses her period and George discovers the condom Kramer gave him was defective.

That a mainstream sitcom in the early '90s had the guts to make condom jokes is already very remarkable (even Friends waited until 2001 for that to happen), but what really makes the episode click, besides the usual witty conversations (case in point: Elaine and Cynthia discussing the fix-up): the impeccable chemistry between Jason Alexander and Maggie Wheeler. The latter made her name two years later on Friends, playing Chandler's on-off (and mildly psychotic) girlfriend Janice, perfecting the skills she first showed in The Fix Up: great timing, enviable ability to deliver the silliest lines and THAT instantly recognizable voice. The only thing missing in her excellent performance is her famous catchphrase, but that's no big issue: Alexander handles that part to perfection in the third act. A double act par excellence.

Kept me laughing throughout the entire episode

When Seinfeld was on the air, I was all in on the series. I used to discuss episodes with my friend group and we would use some of the sayings. I remember gathering together with dozens at a food establishment to watch the final episode of the series. We won't go down that path of criticizing the final episode. I actually thought it was alright. Anyhow, no television series since and almost none in the future will unite so many, the popular culture is too fractured with so many options via streaming, etc.

For this particular episode, I couldn't remember it so many years later. I watched it this morning and was thoroughly entertained from start to finish. The subject matter was still timely and relevant 30+ years later. The dialogue fresh and on point. Pure comedy genius. Of course, Janice from Friends was the icing on the cake of this masterpiece.

Talk About Genius Writing

This episode has so much going for it, I don't know where to begin. To start with we have George and his pompous paranoia. He has given up ever finding anyone. Elaine's coarse loudmouth friend is hard to take even for a couple minutes. So what do you do? You fix them up. The discussion before the date is as amazing as it gets. Then there's Kramer and his grocery bag full of discount condoms. He offers Elaine half the bag. The woman who plays the friend is caustic and sharp and hilarious. Wow!

One of the best episodes to ever air on the TV

One of the best episodes to ever air on the Television.

This review right here was written and typed in the year 2023 and the day 22 of February.

About: Jerry Seinfeld and Elaine Benes hook up George with a one-off character, Cynthia.

Kramer has a very minor part where his friend Bob Sacremeno gave him a bunch of pregnant blockers.

Story and Production: This episode is not about the story. It's about the dialogue between all 4 and even Cynthia. They were flawless. Every exchange was funny. I've watched this episode for the 106th time now and it's still funny.

Production was magnificent. Again, one of the best episodes of all time.

Villain: Probably Kramer or Bob Sacremeno for distributing defective pregnancy blockers.

Laugh meter: 10/10

Highlight: Jerry and George dialogue about Cynthia. The "fight" scenes where Kramer intervenes.

Should you watch this?: Fix up a meal and watch this amazing episode.

The Fix up is an excellent episode, that's pretty funny, as it shows what a disaster it can be when you fix people up!.

Warning: Spoilers
(plot). Jerry and Elaine set George up with Elaine's friend Cynthia. They hit it off but George is horrified to discover that Kramer has given him a defective condom.

The Fix up is an excellent episode, that's pretty funny, as it shows what a disaster it can be when you fix people up!. I laugh my ass off when George thought he was going to be a father, because Cynthia missed her period, and because he didn't use a condom, and it was also very funny when ever Jerry/George/Kramer/Elaine all fought with each other, plus this is very well written by Larry Charles&Elaine Pope and directed by Tom Cherones, plus I loved Jerry's opening stand up about the conductor being useless. It's very well made, and Maggie Wheeler is great as Cynthia as I recognized her from Friends, plus if you look closely Elaine's pregnancy is beginning to look very noticeable. I always enjoy watching this episode, as Iv'e seen it a lot of times and it never gets old, and I thought the ending was just great, plus it's very underrated as well. The Fix up is an excellent episode, that's pretty funny, as it shows what a disaster it can be when you fix people up, and I say this is a must see for every Seinfeld fan!. ****1/2 out of 5

Favorite quotes.

Jerry: Iv'e never fixed anybody up. Elaine: Yeah me neither, and I am not about to start with George. Jerry: Well why wouldn't you start with George?, do you think She's too good for George?. Elaine: I didn't say too good did I?, did I say too good for George?. Jerry: Well you implied it. Elaine: I didn't say it!. Jerry: Because if you think She's to good for George you are dead wrong, dead wrong!, who is she?. Elaine: Who is he?. Jerry: He's George. Elaine: She's Cynthia. Jerry: So what?. Elaine: What you don't think She's beautiful?. Jerry: What's with the eyebrows?. Elaine: You know what your problem is your standards are too high. Jerry: I went out with you. Elaine: Well that's because my standards are to low!.

George: We had an incredible phone conversation, we talked for like 20 minutes, I threw away my notes in the middle of the call, you know I thought she had a great voice, timbre, is it timbre or is it Tambre?. Jerry: I think it's Tambre. George: Why'd I think timbre?, she could do voice over commercials, why didn't you tell me about her voice. Jerry: I didn't notice the voice. George: It's mellifluous!. Jerry: So Saturday night!. George: She had to be impressed by the phone conversation had to!, it was a great performance I am unbelievable on the phone, on the date, they should just have two phones on the table in the restaurant.

(condom segment). Kramer: Come on Jerry take some grab them!. Jerry: No thanks they look like they came out of a cereal box.

Kramer: Come on Elaine here take half a bag!. Elaine: Half a bag?, what am I A hooker?.

Elaine: I knew those condoms were defective!. Jerry: How did you know they were defective!!. Elaine: Because, because she missed her period!!. George: She missed her period?, oh my god, I can't believe it, I'm a father I did it!, my boys can swim!, I can do it!, I can do it!, I'm a father!.

Jerry: I don't think you'll throw up. She likes to throw up.
bombersflyup28 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Fix Up is about Jerry and Elaine playing matchmaker with George and one of Elaine's friends.

It's a pretty flawless and underrated episode, with the show's strongest character at the centre. Starting with George scoffing down food, with sauce all over his shirt. Saying "I don't want hope, hope is killing me. My dream is to become hopeless. When you're hopeless you don't care, that indifference makes you attractive. It's my only hope." It's comedy genius, then building and building with each member of the group getting into little heated and humorous scuffles, to a moment that sends tingles down my spine. "I did it! My boys can swim!" Jerry's standup's very good as well.

Jerry: 'Thick lustrous hair is very important to me,' is that what you said? George: Yeah, that's right. Jerry: Just clarifying.

Jerry: There's a hue.
