"This is quite a life I lead here"

Another highlight from Season 7, this episodes shines with enjoyment. It's got to be one of the most entertaining and fast-paced episodes of the season. There's so much going on and everything is on the same level of quality.

We got two main stories. On one hand, we got George's storyline which is incredibly dense compared to previous episodes. Because he locked the car with the keys in it, Mr. Wilhem thinks that he's putting in extra hours. That's a killer idea right there. Also, I love that George decides to take a few days off to the cabin with Susan. It's like a momentary lapse of time in which he's happy with the relationship. The other story is Elaine and her "Lex Luthor", Sue Ellen Mishky. This character is so insane and yet so plausible that it lends itself for numerous gags. Jerry and Kramer tie this story with George's by crashing George's car at the sight of Sue Ellen using a bra as a top. So then they decide to sue her and we get a more that welcome reappearance from the great Jackie Chiles.

The episode flows smoothly from one storyline to the other, it has a perfect pace, a good chunk of excellent supporting characters and a little, yet important advance in the season's arc.

RIP George

Warning: Spoilers
In "The Caddy", George is up for a promotion because his bosses mistakenly believe he's working hard since his car is constantly in the parking lot, even when he's not there. George takes a mid-week vacation to his in-laws' cabin and asks Jerry to take the fliers off of the car while he's gone. Elaine runs into her old friend Sue Ellen who never wears a bra. As a gag, Elaine buys her one as a gift. But this becomes problematic when Sue Ellen starts wearing it around town as a top. Kramer gets serious about golf with the help of his buddy Stan the Caddy in the hopes of someday making the Senior tour. But these dreams are dashed when, while going to get George's car washed, Kramer crashes the car while he's gawking at Sue Ellen walking down the street.

Kramer and Jerry park George's battered car back at Yankee Stadium to keep up the appearance that George is there. The organization sees the wrecked car and blood on the seat and assume he's died. They inform his parents and pass him up for promotion in the process. Elaine convinces Kramer to sue Sue Ellen; he hires Jackie Chiles. The case is going smoothly in court until Stan convinces Kramer to ask Sue Ellen to try on the bra (a parody of the OJ gloves scene). It doesn't fit and they lose the case. George heads back to work pretending to have been seriously injured.

I don't think there's a bad episode of Seinfeld involving Jackie. He brings so much energy to his scenes and is a great counterpoint to Kramer's character and mannerism. Love it.

Maybe it's just my imagination, but Jerry's character and subplots seem to be taking a backseat this season. The focal points have really become the other 3 cast members. Maybe they've realized that Jerry's not the strongest actor of the bunch and might be better served as more of a secondary character.

How Much Trouble Can One Man Get Into?

George begins to get accolades from the Yankees for putting in long hours. Actually he has locked his keys in his car and hasn't been driving. But the bosses are impressed that he never leaves. As a matter of fact he is about to get a promotion. So George, who always looks a gift horse in the mouth, runs off with his girlfriend, but circumstances force Jerry and Kramer to go get his car, which they crash. Meanwhile, a woman Elaine hates meets her on the street and invites her to a birthday party. This leads to a new trend in lingerie and its wearability. It also leads to the assumption that George is dead. Great scene when George Steinbrenner breaks the news to the Costanzas.

Warning: Spoilers
Phil Morris makes a memorable appearance as attorney Jackie Chiles, who helps Kramer with his lawsuit against Sue Ellen Mischke, played by Brenda Strong. Anyway, Sue Ellen manages to persuade Jerry to testify in his favor.

Armin Shimerman guests stars as Stan the Caddie (with a British-English accent), and the ending was a parody of the most famous trial of the 20th century, glove and all. Cynthia Madvig and Marilyn Tokuda appear at the end as Woman 1 and Woman 2, respectively. I'm enjoying re-watching some of the Seinfeld episodes and it's hard to believe the sitcom debuted 30 years ago init.
