"Fred's Extra Job" finds the marriage minded Lamont lamenting that as half of Sanford and Son he has no money to speak of. Fred tries to borrow a loan from the bank, but the stunned clerk (Mel Carter) hesitates when dealing to an 'empire' located on South Central. In order to prevent Lamont from leaving, Fred offers him every penny of the $6000, but has to find a second job to pay back the bank. $15 a night at a fancy French restaurant is available if he can impress the Maitre D' (Milton Frome): "have you had any experience with food?" "I eat three meals a day!" Going out nights while napping all day makes for a decided lack of coordination in the junk business, especially when Fred uses Donna for his excuse. Both Donna and Janet (Marlene Clark) accompany Lamont for dinner, ending up with Fred as their less than competent waiter. Marlene Clark makes her fourth of six appearances as Janet.
