"Della, Della, Della" of course guest stars Della Reese as herself. Lamont is using the junkyard to campaign for Bob Williams (Paul Reid Roman), who is running for congress. Fred's buddy Hutch (Arnold Johnson, second of five) reports that he and his niece are both working on behalf of Williams' opponent John Ross, her name Della Reese: "if Della Reese is your niece, Atilla the Hun is my son!" One look at her and Fred clutches his heart in typical fashion, unable to refuse to help her work against his son's candidate. Lamont doesn't believe that Della Reese was there, disappointed that his father would easily give up his principles for a pretty face. Della belts out "Ease on Down the Road," the best remembered selection from the Broadway musical THE WIZ, later a hit duet from the 1978 movie featuring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. Della Reese not only remained friends with Redd Foxx for 40 years, she was his co-star on his final series, THE ROYAL FAMILY, completing only seven episodes before his untimely death from a heart attack.
