Unlike several years later, when a woman could become a 'famous' ('super') model, simply because of her physical appearance, these women were very successful due to their physical measurements (to wear the (real) designer's clothes,most of which were pinned, and pulled, just to make it 'look good ' - on a runway, or fashion shoot, as well as their ability to let the garments be the 'star', and they, nothing more than an animated display, able to show the clothes off to their best, possible look.
