  Angel Martin : Well, I know that...

  [Chester - holding his palm up - cuts Angel off] 

  Chester Sierra : I've been very patient with you guys. Hmm? I brought you over here, I invited you to dinner, so we can sit down and discuss everything, and instead of a little honor and decency

  [begins to yell] 

  Chester Sierra : , you feed me an ice cream sandwich!

  [Addressing his cohorts] 

  Chester Sierra : Drop these guys in the river, and make an example.

  [Menacingly] 

  Chester Sierra : I don't want *no one* else to think they can screw with me.

  Angel Martin : [Angel turns to Jimmy]  You did it, Jimmy!

  Jim Rockford : I did it? I never said a word!

  Chester Sierra : And after you've finished with them, I want to see Tom - right here, right now!

  Angel Martin : [Yelling]  Look; why kill us both?

  [pleads to Chester] 

  Angel Martin : Just kill one of us? That would be even better, see; you could do Jimmy, now, and I'd go around and I'd tell people, 'don't cheat Chester Sierra, and then, later on, if you want to scare more people, I'd be available for the engagement.

  Chester Sierra : Get them out of here.

• Chester Sierra : [Chester Sierra - very cold & threatening - after Angel has just explained to Chester that he has no piece of this action]  Let t me tell you something very basic, Angel; I am always in the picture! I am what is known as an 'urban horticulturist'. See, I have this garden, see, and it runs from Fourth and the freeway, and from Manchester right up to the ocean.

  [Louder] 

  Chester Sierra : Now, this garden was given to me to watch over by Lou Guispoda, while he's out of the country coolin'' off, but before he leaves, he says to me, 'Chester - don't you never let nobody plant nothin' in your garden without you gettin' something of what grows'.

  [In a calm, polite voice] 

  Chester Sierra : Now you may ask; 'how come Chester Sierra gets to look over this garden, and not some other guy', and this is a fair question.

  [Snarling] 

  Chester Sierra : It is because I am a good gardener, and what I plant grows. And I'm picking' up lots of fruit,

  [yelling] 

  Chester Sierra : and Lou Guispoda is happy.

  [Chester yells, even louder] 

  Chester Sierra : Now, along come a couple of guys that jump over the fence with a gunnysack and start messing' around in my garden, and I ask them what they're doing, and they tell me I'm 'not in the picture'!

  [Chester sighs, and talks quietly] 

  Chester Sierra : Let me give you a piece of news; you - are going to be 'out-of-the-picture'. We got a special place in the garden for guys what don't cooperate. It's called the East L.A. River, and *nothing* grows there but stiffs.
