Steele Threads
Prismark1012 September 2018
Remington and Laura investigate the rag thread and the theft of designs but it soon leads to a dead body in a refrigerator.

Two bickering brothers in the fashion industry are the key to the mystery. Bullets Bloustein was the prince of pleats but now fallen on hard times, losing business to his more successful younger brother, Julian Baron.

Bullets has photographed his brother's latest designs but the camera roll has been stolen which was inside the lining of a jacket. However Remington finds out that the jacket is actually of interest, it is stronger than steel.

The guests stars are on top form, this is an enjoyable knockabout episode which even sees tension as Laura gets shot at close range.

Steele Away with Lara Parker

Remington (Pierce Brosnan) and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) go undercover to investigate intellectual theft, in the world of high fashion design. Not surprisingly, the investigation involves murder. Although the delightful Doris Roberts does not appear in this episode, the great guest cast helps fill the void. Joshua Shelley (as Bulletz Bloustein) and Dean Santoro (as Julian Baron) are the well-cast bickering brothers of fashion. Carl Weintraub (as Karl) is an appropriately nasty foil. Remington and Laura have a couple of their finer moments; Bronson is especially noteworthy, giving sweat-panted Zimbalist a foot massage, and expressing great emotion when he thinks his partner has expired. And, best of all is beautiful featured Lara Parker (as Lila Colbert). Ms. Parker has one of her major guest-starring roles; once again, she shows enough performance ability to have been starred in her own television series.

Steele in fashion

Warning: Spoilers
The Remington Steele agency is hired to protect fashion designs from being pilfered. But is more going on than meets the eye?

While the stories and objectives are different, the show is reminiscent of "A Material Difference" from "The Rockford Files," which show seems to have been a strong influence on "Remington Steele."

The story has lots of elements: a longtime rift between brothers, a dead body in a refrigerator, models and buyers, and more I won't reveal.

Fashion usually leaves me cold but they slip in an older gentleman, as they did in "To Stop a Steele," who brings a bit of lightfingered delight.

Far-fetched, yes, but not offensively so.
