Etched in Steele

A rather bookish episode especially as Steele gets a book deal to promote the detective agency.

Mitchell Knight is married to a famous racy romance novelist Charlotte Knight. At a party where he is rather drunk he tells Steele and Laura that his wife had written in the the manuscript of her new book how she plans to kill him.

Soon after his body falls from the building. Charlotte Knight becomes a suspect especially as he is not exactly a grieving widow but Steele soon uncovers that Charlotte's books were being ghost written. Laura knows how it feels when someone else takes credit for another person's actual work.

A fun episode especially when Steele thinks he knows who might be the murderer but keeps naming the wrong suspects.

One of the weaker episodes

I hate to give any Steele episode a poor review, because our classy duo are always watchable, but this one is not my favorite. The central character, a female author of risqué novels, tries to seduce Steele but there is zero chemistry and she looks - maybe due to dated wardrobe, hair and makeup - not attractive enough to pull it off. Also, most Steele episodes hold up well decades later because of great banter and dialogue, but the lines here are trashy rather than sophisticated.
