Just before it's noticed that Sam is missing there is a call for Mrs Margaret Thatcher, the future UK Prime Minister, over the ship's public address system.
This episode takes place aboard the RMS Queen Mary from June 3 to June 4, 1954. Portions of the episode were filmed on board the Queen Mary, which has been permanently moored as a floating hotel and museum in Long Beach, California since 1971.
Beverly Leech, who plays Catherine Farrington, is only nine years younger than J. G. Hertzler, who plays her father, and 11 years younger than Patricia Harty, who plays her mother.

He also provides voices in a number of Trek video games and wrote a Deep Space Nine novel, "The Left Hand of Destiny."
Weathers Farrington IV was the Harvard heavyweight boxing champion in 1919.
