The One Where Nathan Crashes A Car...

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. It's a pretty good episode. I hate the way Nathan acts. He's a mega douche in this episode. And even though he's been douchey before, this just tips the scales completely.

In this episode, Lucas plays another great game, so Nathan decides to change his tactics, by inviting him to a party. The party does not go well. It includes a game of "I Never", Peyton being dismissed, and Nathan taking Peyton's car, crashing it, and then getting Tim to be a false witness for him. But Lucas knows the truth.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

I learned something tonight, everyone has secrets

Warning: Spoilers
What does the whole broken water pipe topic have to do with anything in this episode? It is supposed to highlight how poor Karen is? I find it odd that Lucas drives a Jeep, but their house has a plastic shower head hanging up with a piece of wire. Hayley also made a comment about her house being temporary whilst their mansion was being renovated. Perhaps it is because I'm not from America, but I find both their homes charming and beautiful and hardly from the poor side of town and dilapidated.

Yes Hayley is smart, and good with school and supposed to portray the geeky girl. But what is up with the bad fashion and Dawson creek references? That green beanie hat was just so unattractive and it really was just for Lucas to trap her in a lie. I doubt Hayley would have worn that ugly thing, regardless of her IQ, plus the other girls were wearing singlets. Exactly how can one person be so cold as to need a furry hat?

Again I"m not sure of Nathan's motives. Hayley tells him to stop being a jerk, and he seems to be really offended by her words and seems to want to follow them, but then next action is to put that video tape on. Why? Just because Lucas is talking to his girlfriend who I'm not sure he even really likes?

And why is Hayley keeping Nathan a secret from Lucas? I think it is because Hayley really like likes Nathan. She doesn't want to, but there is an attraction on some animal level. Opposites attract and all that.

Interesting note on the video tapes though. Does it mean I'm old to think that 2003 isn't that long ago and surely people still didn't have video tapes then? Its just funny to see them instead of more modern media.

Overall a good episode on the consequence of lying and how the truth is the only safe course of action. One point knocked off for the green furry beanie.
