A funny early episode about Oscar's ulcer
Jimmy_the_Gent427 August 2017
Oscar has the beginnings of an ulcer and Felix tries to act as nursemaid.

Oscar's ulcer is mentioned in later episodes but this is the first we hear of it. This has many funny moments due to Felix's nagging and Oscar's impatience. Bill Quinn has some very funny deadpan quips as the the harried Dr Melnitz, saying he won't make another house call unless Oscar cleans his room! Felix won't allow the usual poker game to go on because of Oscar's health. One of the funniest scenes in the show is where the poker players attempt to have conversations. Speed wants to talk about a poker game and Murray the cop wants to tell about a naked girl he saw, but Felix tells them that is too exciting for Oscar's stomach. Then Roy the accountant can only talk about the office tabulator and Murray about the station house typewriter. It builds to a hilarious moment when Oscar explodes at the boring talk and runs to a Mexican restaurant.

The first season may have been the weakest but only in comparison to the later, more funny seasons. This episode has a good amount of laughs.
