Peter's (Michael Callan) mother (Sara Seegar) decides to make a surprise visit. She sees her son's wife, Greta (Patricia Harty)- who is really only his pretend wife for business purposes, kissing her boyfriend. Mrs. Christopher goes to Peter's boss Max Brahms (Jack Collins) to ask if she should tell Peter. He tries to ease her by hiring Private Detective Will Yates (Stanley Beck) to follow Greta. Peter's lovely new secretary Miss Wilson (Linda Gaye Scott) tells him of the situation. Peter and Greta discuss the matter in trying to figure out why his boss has hired a detective to follow her. Yates learns they aren't really married and blackmails Greta and Peter. They invite the detective over to try and blackmail him with an incriminating photograph, but complications ensue.
