The writing has really gone down now. There is no really-good reason for Marissa to be expelled and then the evil dean kicks someone -- anyone (Marissa) -- out of a carnival that can be attended by the general public, at least anyone invited -- just lazy and stupid writing/situation.
And then, there they go, writing Ryan protecting a girl again, fighting again . . . key word there is "again" as in, not creative.
It seems like the original producers and writers only planned for a one-year show never believing it'd sell for more, and they plum ran outta ideas for conflict/tension and character development. Ryan, great starter character in Season 1, is stunted almost beyond belief. Oh, and no one can be happy like, ever, for more than a nanosecond.
