I know it was the eighties but there are some things about the portrayal of Joanna and Dick that bug me. Joanna is bit of a busybody and Dick is insensitive. If one were to look at someone like George, we would see a lonely man who is getting up in years. He loves his work but he has no one in his life. Along comes this beautiful actress who is of the appropriate age for him. She is kind and does nothing but adore him. Along comes Joanna who has read about her on supermarket tabloids. Soon she get Dick to talk to George and crush his feelings. Imagine how much worse they have made it than if she had dumped him. They have done this before and it's a level of insensitivity that detracts from their characters.

George and the TV vixen

An actress Loretta Dupris, known for being an evil woman who uses men, takes a liking to George.

A good George episode and Marilyn Mason guest stars as Loretta. She was a talented actress who appeared in sitcoms like The Odd Couple and TV movies like Attack On Terror. Dick and Joanna are concerned that she may be pretending to like George so she can use him for free repairs at the theater she is appearing in. George gets a rare romantic moment at the end. J.J. also shows up, becoming Dick's new neighbor, wanting to bulldoze a colonial house and put up a satellite house that looks like a Space Needle.
