"NCIS" is a great series, I have said that many times, but the 3rd season has never been one of my favorites, I think it's a solid season, but the 4th, 9th and 10th season are definitely much better. "Probie" is not a bad episode. It's a solid entry to the series, though not great.
Let's start with the good aspects.
. The production values of the episode are great. The direction's good and the music fits the scenery. The acting's pretty good as usual. Sean Murray gives one of his best performances as McGee.
. The story is intriguing for the most part. The subplot regarding a sperm bank is entertaining and the case itsself is investing.
But....
. The solution (Archer killed his partner) was not that hard to figure out. I think the story could have benefited from more twists and turns. I also would have liked to know more about the threats made to an admiral NCIS was protecting in the beginning.
Overall, a good episode.
