The set used for the house in the pilot is very much different then the one from the rest of the series. For one it's much smaller and less grand plus when one enters the house from the front door all the rooms in the house are to stage right as opposed to stage left in the rest of the series. The house's staircase is a much simpler one and is located just to left the landing of the front door. In addition the exterior shots of the house differ from the rest of the series most notably in that it shows that there are steps that are to be used to to get to the front door. In all other episodes the the house used for the Sheffield residence shows the front door is at street level. When the series went into production producers used a slightly modified yet much grander set left over from the cancelled NBC series The Powers That Be for the Sheffield residence.
The opening credits used for the original airing of the pilot differ from the rest of the series. The opening theme song used was not the familiar "The Nanny Named Fran" but rather "If They Could See Me Know." In this opening sequence Fran Fine is seen sitting at a makeup mirror putting on make up as the song plays and the cast members names are scrolled over the screen. After the pilot was filmed the familiar cartoon likeness of the main characters along with Ann Hampton Calloway's song " The Nanny Named Fran" was used.
