When returning a stolen laptop to a professor at Frostburg State University, Earl asks "Isn't that where Bullwinkle went to college"? To which Randy replies "Went to Wossamotta U. Lived in Frostbite Falls". This conversation is also in an episode of Yes, Dear (2000) almost verbatim. Frostburg State University is the alma mater of Gregory Thomas Garcia the creator of both My Name Is Earl (2005) and Yes, Dear (2000).
